If you want your event to be officially sanctioned, you will need to host the event in a public facility that is accessible to everyone, preferably a gaming store that can qualify for a Wizards Play Network level. You will need to find a Magic the Gathering judge who can attend the event, and you must follow the guidelines set out by Wizards of the Coast (Resources). However, if you just want to host a friendly get-together to play just for fun, keep reading.
Decide whether you want to just get your friends together or whether you want to open game night to anyone who wants to play. Keep in mind that opening it to anyone who wants to play means letting potential strangers into your home.
Find an area in your house that can hold the number of people you are going to have attending. Hosting a gaming night is like hosting any other party. Consider the number of people that you can easily accommodate, and be sure to provide enough snacks and drinks for everyone.
Make sure you have enough tables and chairs for everyone. No one is going to want to have to take turns playing at the kitchen table or resort to playing on the floor.
Invite your Magic the Gathering playing friends. If you are going to open the event to all gamers in your area, you will need to advertise the event. You can advertise via fliers or any other creative way you can think of. You just need to make sure people understand that your event is not an officially sanctioned Friday Night Magic event. Some gamers might not want to give up an official event, where they can improve their tournament rankings and win prizes, just for a friendly get-together.

Find a venue. If you're simply hosting a casual tournament for friends, a single table in your game room is sufficient. But if you're organizing a larger competition, consider a pub or arcade with plenty of foosball tables and seats for spectators.
Gather the equipment. Unless the venue has enough available, you'll need to rent or borrow regulation-sized foosball tables to accommodate most of the players, spare balls and replacement parts to repair tables that break during play.
Produce the prize money. Organize contributions from local sponsors, pubs or foosball equipment manufacturers if you want a large prize pool. For less formal tournaments, players can contribute 'entry fees' that will be divided among the winners.
Offer trophies or other prizes like gift cards to local restaurants for categories like 'coolest trick shot,' 'best stop' or 'least wins.' Award participation gifts such as commemorative t-shirts, hats or mugs.
Advertise for participants. Tell friends, post on foosball-related message boards or hand out flyers at local pubs, arcades, pool halls and recreation centers.
Establish rules. If you're planning a tournament with a considerable amount of prize money, stick to official regulations like those established by the United States Table Soccer Association. Read the basics to the players before the competition starts and have printed copies of the full rules available onsite in the event of a dispute. (See Resources)
Organize brackets if you've got a lot of participants. Set up pairings in different categories if the pool's talent level is diverse. Keep a white board or chalk board updated to let players know who they're up against next.

Start Garry's Mod and pick 'Start New Game' from the main menu.
Choose the map you want to play and click the 'Play Multiplayer' button on the bottom-right of the screen. In addition to maps you already have, you can choose new maps by clicking on the 'Toybox' tab at the top of the window and choosing new maps.
Invite friends by pressing the Shift and Tab keys at the same time to bring up the Friends window, right-clicking on the person to invite and choosing 'Invite to Game' from the drop-down menu.
