How to Use MP3 Message Alert for iPhoneIn Feburary 2016 30,

In Feburary 2016 30,
Open iTunes and then click 'Preferences' to convert file types. In Windows, this is found under 'Edit;' in a Mac, this is found under the 'iTunes' menu.
Click 'General' and then click the 'Importing Settings' button (this is found in the second section of the window.)
Choose 'AIFF' from the 'Import Using' pop-up dialogue. Click 'OK.'
Select the message alert tone you want to use from your library and then choose 'Create AIFF version' from the Advanced menu.
Locate the newly created AIFF file and move it to your desktop. Rename the file to include the CAF file extension instead of an AIFF file extension. For example, if your file is named 'iPhoneAlert.aiff,' rename it 'iPhoneAlert.caf.'
FTP to iPhone
Download 'Installer.app' to your iPhone. Then using Installer.app, install the necessary applications to your iPhone. According to Code Retard, this includes 'Launcher,' 'OpenSSH,' 'BSD Subsystem' and 'Mobile Finder.'
Locate your iPhone's IP address. Tap the 'Settings' icon from your home screen and then tap 'WiFi.' Select your network and tap the blue arrow to reveal 'Advanced Settings.' Note the IP address that is listed.
Download and install an FTP client such as FileZilla (open source and free) or an SFTP client such as Cyberduck for Mac or WinSCP for Windows to your computer if you do not already have one.
Open your FTP client and then choose 'Open Connection' or similar. Type your IP address in the 'Server' text field. Type 'root' as the User Name, 'alpine' as the Password and '22' as the Port; and choose 'SFTP' as the Protocol. Click 'Connect' or similar to connect to your iPhone.
Transfer the File
Navigate to '/System/Library/Audio/UISounds' on the iPhone side of the partition in your FTP client.
Rename the CAF file on your desktop to replace one of the following SMS alerts:Tri-tone (sms-received1.caf)Chime (sms-received2.caf)Glass (sms-received2.caf)Horn (sms-received4.caf)Bell (sms-received5.caf)Electronic (sms-received6.caf)For example, if you want to replace the 'Tri-Tone' alert, rename the CAF file on your desktop to 'sms-received1.caf.'
Delete or rename the file corresponding to the SMS alert you replaced on your iPhone. For example, if you replaced the Tri-tone alert, delete 'sms-received1.caf' from your iPhone or change the name to 'sms-received_1.caf.'
Locate, drag and drop the CAF file from the 'computer' side of the partition on your FTP to the 'iPhone' side of the partition. For example, if you renamed the file on your desktop 'sms-received1.caf,' drag this file from the desktop in your FTP to your iPhone; this will replace 'Tri-tone' with your new message alert tone.
Choose your new message tone in your iPhone. For example, if you replaced sms-received1.caf, then you should choose 'Tri-tone.'

How to Use a Listbox Control in MFC Visual C++In Feburary 2016 19,

In Feburary 2016 19,
Create a new project in Visual Studio to manipulate the control. From the upper menu bar, click 'File' > 'New' and select 'MFC AppWizard(exe)' in the 'Projects' tab. Enter a name for the project in the 'Project name' text box and click 'OK.' Select the 'Dialog based' radio button and click 'Finish' and then 'OK.' A dialog screen with two control buttons, one 'OK' and one 'Cancel,' is displayed in the Design View mode.
Add MFC controls on the dialog screen: one list box and some auxiliary controls to make the tutorial more interesting. To find a list box, move the mouse over the controls toolbox and read the popup balloons. Click the 'List Box' icon and click on the dialog screen to add it there. In a similar fashion add an 'Edit Box' and two 'Buttons.'
Modify the MFC controls. Right-click on the list box, select 'Properties' and change the ID to IDC_MYLISTBOX, under the 'General' tab. Do the same to the edit box and change its ID to IDC_MYEDITBOX. In one button, change the ID to IDC_MYBUTTONADD and the Caption to 'Add.' In the other button, change the ID and Caption to IDC_MYBUTTONREM and 'Remove,' respectively.
Join the list box and edit box using the Class Wizard. From the upper menu, click 'View' > 'Classwizard' or press Ctrl+W. Select 'IDC_MYLISTBOX' under the 'Member Variables' tab and click 'Add Variable.' Type 'm_myListBox' in the 'Member variable name' text box and select 'Control' under 'Category.' Click 'OK.' Next, select 'IDC_MYEDITBOX,' click 'Add Variable' and give the name 'm_myEditBox.' Don't change the combo boxes. Click 'OK' to close the class wizard.
Give some functionality to the Add button. Double-click the 'Add' button. When the 'Add Member Function' window appears, click 'OK.' Copy and paste the following code inside the '::OnMybuttonadd()' function, under the comment:
CString str;
UpdateData();
str = m_myEditBox;
UpdateData(FALSE);
m_myListBox.AddString(str);
Repeat Step 5 for the 'Remove' button. Copy and paste the following code inside the '::OnMybuttonrem()' function, under the comment:
int pos;
CString str;
pos = m_myListBox.GetCurSel();
m_myListBox.DeleteString(pos);
Compile and run the code. Type some text in the edit box and click the Add button. That text will be added as a row in the list box. Next, highlight a list box row and click Remove. This action deletes the row.

How to Connect to a Oracle Database in JavaIn Feburary 2016 15,

In Feburary 2016 15,
Install a Java IDE such as NetBeans.
Download JDBC drivers for the oracle database version you are connecting to. These are available at the link below.
Depending on your database, the file should be named something like ojdbc14.jar or classes12.zip.
Move the driver files to the following folder: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0\jre\lib\ext. (or the folder corresponding to the Java version that you have installed). Attempt to connect using the Java code below and if you have successfully connected to the database, you can skip Step 4.
Add the JDBC drivers to your project library. If you are using NetBeans, go to Tools->Java Platforms and on the source tab, add the drivers. Next, you should right click on your project and go to Properties->Libraries and add the drivers in the compile and run tabs.
The Java code samples linked below can be used to connect to your oracle database. The same code may be used for reading or writing to a database, just change the sql statement.

How to Fix a Leaking RoofIn Feburary 2016 13,

In Feburary 2016 13,
Examine the roof shingles and look for any spots where the shingles are discolored, or where the roof sags.
Go inside the attic and examine the underside of the sheathing and the rafters. Look for any damp spots or water stains on the wood, or signs of mold growth. Check the insulation in between the floor joists for signs of water damage as well. If you notice mold or water stains in one area, that's the area where the leak is located.
Soak the roof with a garden hose to try to locate the leak. Begin in areas where there is a hole cut into the roof, such as around a vent pipe or skylight. Run the water over the joint for several minutes while an assistant stands inside the house underneath the area where you're applying the water to watch for leaks. Move on to the valleys where different sections of the roof meet at an angle, and finally the main sections of the roof.
Damaged Shingles
Using a pry bar, lift the undamaged shingles in the area surrounding the shingles that are damaged to be able to remove the shingles in the damaged area.
Remove the shingles in the damaged area by lifting them up with the pry bar and taking them off of the roof. Begin at the top of the damaged area and work toward the bottom.
Examine the sheathing where you removed the shingles. If it's damaged, remove the old sheathing and nail new sheathing to the roof rafters to replace it with galvanized nails. Sheathing usually consists of 3/4-inch plywood or oriented strand board (OSB).
Cover the new sheathing with strips of roofing paper. Begin laying the paper at the bottom of the sheathing, and work toward the top. Slide the edges of the roofing paper underneath the shingles surrounding the damaged area, and overlap the different rows of paper by 1 inch as you lay them. Staple them to the sheathing every 6 to 8 inches with a hammer stapler.
Lay the first course of shingles into place along the bottom of the area being repaired. Align the new shingles with the existing shingles in that row, and nail them to the roof by driving in three evenly-spaced roofing nails placed 1 inch above the tabs.
Continue laying new shingles to finish covering the area being repaired. When you get to the last row, slide the top edge of the shingles underneath the bottom of the shingles in the row above them. This prevents water from seeping underneath the top edge of the new shingles.
Nail down the shingles you loosened around the area that was damaged.
Vents and Pipes
Loosen the shingles around the roof vent or pipe with the pry bar.
Remove the boot around the vent pipe, or the roof vent, from the roof. If it's screwed into place, back the screws out with a drill; if it's nailed into place, pry it off the roof with the pry bar.
Apply a thick bead of roofing cement around the vent pipe or the hole for the roof vent.
Place the new boot for the vent pipe or the new roof vent into position. Attach it to the roof with galvanized screws or galvanized roofing nails.
Nail down the loose shingles around the vent pipe or roof vent with roofing nails.

What Is an FTP Server?In Feburary 2016 12,

In Feburary 2016 12,
The first published standard for the File Transfer Protocol predates the Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in use today. Published in 1971, FTP ran over the Network Control Protocol (NCP), the Internet's predecessor. It was designed to facilitate indirect exchanges across the network--those exchanges in which data or programs were transmitted to a different system to be executed or worked on.
Uses
FTP was originally designed for large bulk transfers of data, so it's ideally suited for file downloads. This is particularly true across the Internet, where FTP is used commonly as the mechanism for downloading patches, songs and purchased programs.
Function
At a technical level, FTP uses an out-of-band control mechanism. This means the data moves between client and server using one communication path. Control messages that govern the flow of that data move between the systems on a different communication channel. Because FTP was designed for file transfers, it leverages the TCP as an underlying protocol, which includes more robust packet delivery assurance.
Identification
Much like most other client/server relationships, the FTP client is the system that makes a request for data, and the FTP server provides that data. It is a common Internet practice to reserve a specific machine or even a set (or 'farm') of machines to function as FTP servers for an enterprise. Their purpose is to listen for client requests and (assuming security checks allow for it) quickly and accurately transmit large files to those clients. If your web browser suddenly reads 'ftp://
' you'll know you're leveraging the FTP protocol in your download.
Benefits
Web pages, which commonly download through the HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP), are usually comprised of many small files that must be simultaneously downloaded to a wide variety of clients in small degrees. Any given web page may make dozens or even hundreds of information requests just to populate a single page. This is a fundamentally different style of work than one request that results in several dozen megabytes of continuous data download. It is precisely because of this difference that FTP servers have continued to have their place amid the many web servers on the Internet.
Design
Because FTP servers are designed for large file transfers, they are best used as a part of an overall Internet server strategy. It's common, for instance, to have general informational pages hosted by web (HTTP) servers and include links in these pages to separate servers used to host large files for download--such as music, videos, large PDF documents, computer code and patches. Because security can be an issue with FTP (originally designed to send usernames and passwords in clear text), it is typical to see FTP servers host files that do not require specific permission for download--or to use a federated security model that leaves authentication and authorization to other systems.

Free Japanese StepIn Feburary 2016 08,

In Feburary 2016 08,
Cut a 2-foot piece of nylon beading thread. String three seed beads onto the nylon thread. Slide them down to the center of the thread.
String a seed bead onto the left end of the thread and slide it down half way on the thread. Insert the right end of the thread through the same seed bead and pull it through. Pick up both ends of the thread and pull them to make the beads move into a circle. Don't pull the ends all the way; leave the circle loose for now.
String a bead onto the left end of the thread. String a bead onto the right end of the thread. Slide the beads all the way down to the fourth strung bead or the bead at the top of the first beaded circle. Slide on a new bead onto the left end. Slide it halfway down, and then insert the right end through the right side of the bead. The bead should now have the left end hanging down from the right side and the right end hanging down from the left side. Pull the ends to make another loose circle.
Add six more circles by stringing a bead onto both ends, stringing the third bead with both ends of the thread to make a string of eight woven figure-8 circles with the beads.
Insert both the left and right ends of the thread through the bead that is facing the right and pull them through. String one bead onto each thread end, string on the third bead and insert both ends through the bead. Continue weaving the beads, using the top bead of the first row as a part of the circle as you make more circles with the beads and thread.
Close the last circle to make a ring with the woven beads. After you make the last figure 8, insert both ends of the thread through the very first bead on the strand of beaded circles. Pull the ends tight to make a ring with the beads.
Tie the ends together two times with a simple knot. Pass the left end through three adjacent beads. Pull the thread tight to make the knot slide into a bead to hide it. Trim the excess thread.
