How to Use FileZillaIn Feburary 2016 29,

In Feburary 2016 29,
When you first open Filezilla, a large window opens with several windows within in the main window. The top window is where Filezilla will show its commands as it works. Below that on the left is the local computer, your computer. On the right is where you will see files from the remote computer. Each computer is broken down into two windows each, the upper window for directories, and the lower pane for directory contents. At the bottom in where progress of each uploading file is displayed.
Check with your webhost for your FTP host name, your username and password, which may be given by the host, or you have chosen. Click on the File drop down menu and chose Site Manager. A new window will open.
In Site Manager chose New Site. In the Select Entry pane, a new icon appears. Type in the name of your site.
In the pane to the right of the Select Entry, click on the General Tab. Here you will find several options. Type in the host name, usually in the format of ftp.(your-domain-name).com. Chose FTP Server Type. Chose the type of logon, usually that is normal.
Type in your username and password and click connect. The Site Manager will close automatically and you will see the commands to logon in the top pane of the main window.
If everything went right a list of folders should be displayed in the right hand panes of the main window. Now it is simple as finding your files in the left hand directory pane, and drag and drop them into the right hand pane, or vise versa.
Filezilla will decide for you what type of file you are transferring, but other FTP clients will ask you for a type, or assume a type.

How to Add Downloads to a WebsiteIn Feburary 2016 26,

In Feburary 2016 26,
Get the file that you want to make downloadable. You must have the file yourself and have the rights to distribute it.
Upload the file from your computer to your website host. You can upload the file by using FTP software or by using website design software that has uploading capability built into its functionality.
Compress the file to make it smaller to download. This is only necessary if the file is large. You can use a program like Winzip to compress the file and make it downloadable as a smaller zip file.
Link to the file so others can download it. Add a line of HTMLcode that points to the file you uploaded and choose the words you want to link to the file. The code will be something like this: Click here</a'>http://mysite.com/folder/download.exe'>here</a> to download this file. The word 'here' will be a link, and when someone clicks on it, the file will be able to be downloaded.

'Disconnected From Server' in FileZillaIn Feburary 2016 26,

In Feburary 2016 26,
FileZilla can implement most of the variations of FTP, which is one of the oldest applications on the Internet. FTP's original version had few security features. To compensate for this, FTP over SSL/TLS, called FTPS and SSH FTP, called SFTP were developed. SSL is the Secure Socket Layer, which was later replaced by Transport Layer Security. These are the security features behind the HTTP Secure protocol, used by eCommerce websites to enable shoppers to enter their credit card details securely. The same security system was added to FTP to create FTP Secure. SSH is the Secure Shell that is a secure terminal emulator. SSH has its own file transfer protocol, known as Secure FTP. FileZilla is also able to transfer files according to these protocols.
Error Characteristics
The error occurs when uploading files from a PC to a server. The application completes 85 to 90 percent of the file delivery, then displays the message: “Error: Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted.” Afterward the transfer resumes, starting at 40 percent. It may again abort at the 85 to 90 percent mark and slip back to 40 percent transferred, or may complete the second time. On other occasions, the disconnected message appears in the log file, even though the file transfer continues and completes.
Cause
FTP uses two connections, one to send commands back and forth and the other for the transfer of data. FileZilla also maintains a separate connection to display the remote file directory in its own browser window. When a file is being transferred, the user often stops using the browser connection and it times out. The reported disconnect is for the browser connection, but the file transfer connections stay open because regular “keep alive” messages pass back and forth, preventing the server from closing them. The recurring transfer break at 85 percent is caused by an intermediate firewall or router dropping the control connection, which FileZilla then re-establishes.
Solution
FileZilla reports disconnection in its log file, but does not identify which connection was dropped or why. If the transfer proceeds and completes, there is little to worry about; this is a misreported or imprecise warning. Genuine dropped connections are usually caused by firewalls. You should specify FileZilla as an exception to force your firewall to accept the application's traffic. Where errors are caused by intermediate routers, there is little you can do to avoid the problem, because the router is not within your control. FileZilla, however, does work with proxy servers, so you can channel connections through a proxy to help the network server avoid a consistently troublesome router.

Different WebIn Feburary 2016 19,

In Feburary 2016 19,
HyperText Transfer Protocol and HTTP Secure are used for viewing and interacting with Web pages. When you request a website via your browser, the program sends a message to the server requesting the content of the page. The server responds, usually by sending back the page's content together with data the browser uses to render it correctly. These messages rely on HTTP. HTTPS is used for websites with additional security requirements, such as payment pages for online retailers, where you enter credit card details to make purchases.
FTP
File Transfer Protocol facilitates the uploading and downloading of Internet content. FTP client programs interpret and send messages to and from a server using the FTP protocol. Developers use these tools to create a connection to a Web server, then upload and download website material, including HTML files, server scripts, client scripts, Cascading Style Sheets files, media items and more.
TCP and IP
Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol frameworks provide the means for computers to communicate within a network. These protocols facilitate Internet functions at the level of servers -- the machines providing content and services -- and the client machines accessing and using that content. When you browse a website, your computer is the client, while the computer, or computers, hosting the site are the servers. The TCP and IP systems describe the messages sent between the computers to facilitate this process.
Email
Email uses multiple protocols, including Internet Message Access Protocol, Post Office Protocol 3 and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, designed to be used in conjunction with the IP system, to transfer email messages between computers on the Internet. Some email providers use webmail, where you log into a Web page to access email messages, while others use desktop clients, which are programs designed specifically to fetch and manage email messages, as well as allowing you to send new messages. Email protocols outline the structure of the messages required by these programs and the email providers, to provide functionality.

What Is a Place Holder?In Feburary 2016 09,

In Feburary 2016 09,
If a domain name and Web hosting service are purchased before a site design is complete, a place holder can inform visitors of the upcoming completion of your site.
Considerations
When uploading a place holder, it is best to make it very simple. Your hosting provider may automatically upload a place holder until you design your site.
Warning
Be sure that you finish your design quickly, as visitors may never return if they see a place holder. Some websites never advance beyond having a place holder page, so be sure to state when your site will be complete.
Types
There are two types of place holder pages. The first is a simple HTML page uploaded by the page designer. This can simply explain that the site is under design and offer a target launch date. Other place holders are uploaded by Web hosting companies. These pages can include advertisements for their services and other similar domains for sale.
Expert Insight
Having a place holder can be helpful when designing a website. However, continue the development of your website to make sure the place holder does not become your permanent homepage. If your hosting provider offers place holder templates that include advertisements for their services, it is best to overwrite this file with your own page.
