How to Use FileZillaIn Feburary 2016 29,

In Feburary 2016 29,
When you first open Filezilla, a large window opens with several windows within in the main window. The top window is where Filezilla will show its commands as it works. Below that on the left is the local computer, your computer. On the right is where you will see files from the remote computer. Each computer is broken down into two windows each, the upper window for directories, and the lower pane for directory contents. At the bottom in where progress of each uploading file is displayed.
Check with your webhost for your FTP host name, your username and password, which may be given by the host, or you have chosen. Click on the File drop down menu and chose Site Manager. A new window will open.
In Site Manager chose New Site. In the Select Entry pane, a new icon appears. Type in the name of your site.
In the pane to the right of the Select Entry, click on the General Tab. Here you will find several options. Type in the host name, usually in the format of ftp.(your-domain-name).com. Chose FTP Server Type. Chose the type of logon, usually that is normal.
Type in your username and password and click connect. The Site Manager will close automatically and you will see the commands to logon in the top pane of the main window.
If everything went right a list of folders should be displayed in the right hand panes of the main window. Now it is simple as finding your files in the left hand directory pane, and drag and drop them into the right hand pane, or vise versa.
Filezilla will decide for you what type of file you are transferring, but other FTP clients will ask you for a type, or assume a type.

How to Build a SnowmanIn Feburary 2016 23,

In Feburary 2016 23,
Test to see if you have 'packing snow,' which clumps together easily and isn't too wet. The snow must pack to make a snowman.
Shape a handful of snow into a ball. Continue adding more snow and packing the ball until it's too large to hold.
Place the ball on the snow in front of you and slowly roll it away from you. As more snow accumulates on the outside of your ball, pack the snow by pressing on it with your gloved hands.
Roll and pack the ball over and over until it is the size you want for the bottom of the snowman's body.
Repeat for the midsection and head. The bottom should be the biggest ball, and the top should be the smallest.
Pack some extra snow between the layers to make them stick together. Place sticks down the center where the sections meet if your snowman is having trouble standing erect.
Give the snowman a face. Use coal, rocks, buttons or anything dark and round for the eyes. A horizontal stick or twig will make a good mouth, and a carrot is fine for the pointy nose. If you don't have a carrot, a banana or a candy cane will do the job.
Cover the top of his head with an old plant for hair, or give him a knit hat to wear. Top hats will blow away unless secured.
Add arms, legs and other accessories. Push sticks into the sides of the middle section and hang old mittens on the ends, then place boots at the bottom for legs. Also consider adding items such as a shirt, a scarf or sunglasses.

Click 'Create Button.' Copy and paste the code onto your website. The button should show up on your page. Add images to these buttons in your website code.
Repeat steps 6 through 13 for every item that you would like to add to your store.

How to Access an FTP From an iPhoneIn Feburary 2016 10,

In Feburary 2016 10,
Go to the iTunes App Store and download FTP On The Go. At the time of this writing the cost is $6.99. Install the app.
Tap 'Skip' to skip the tutorial when you first run FTP On The Go, since you're following this tutorial.
Enter the address, username and password for your FTP server. The format for the address is usually something like 'ftp.domain.com,' but may be different. Check with your web host for the correct address.Entering the port and path is optional.Tap 'Connect' when you're ready. Hitting the plus sign will allow you to bookmark your ftp credentials and add more FTP servers.
Hit 'Yes, Connect' if a message pops up saying that your connection is not secure. This screen will show what files are on your FTP.
At the bottom of the FTP window are several controls. The icon on the left lets you Refresh the page. The middle icon allows you to Sort by Name, Size or Date. The icon on the far right allows you to do all sorts of ftp commands such as Delete All Files, Upload a Picture, Create a File and Create a Directory.
Select a file by tapping on it and you will see a Green and a Blue arrow pop up next to it. You will also notice that the down arrow icon at the bottom that was once grayed out is now active. How to Correct Proxy SettingsIn Feburary 2016 07,

In Feburary 2016 07,
Look through the menu bar (all Windows-based applications have one) of the application you want to correct. Choose the 'Tools' drop-down menu. In this menu, find the 'Options' configuration screen for the application you want to update. In Google Chrome, this menu is accessed by clicking on the wrench symbol at the end of the address bar. Towards the bottom of the 'Tools' menu will be a 'Settings,' 'Internet Options' or 'Options' item. Select this to open a settings window.
Search for the 'Proxy Settings' option. In some applications this is immediately visible, in others it is necessary to select either an 'Internet' or 'Connections.' In these applications, a 'LAN Settings' button will lead to a window where proxy data is accessed. Press this button to open the 'LAN Settings' window.
Find the proxy data you want to change in the LAN Settings screen. Some applications show a series of entries for proxy settings, with an option to use the same proxy for all options. The options are 'HTTP,' 'HTTPS' (or 'Secure' or 'SSL'), 'FTP,' 'Gopher' or 'SOCKS.'
Update the proxy you wish to correct. If you are only using one proxy, its details will be in the 'HTTP' proxy fields. Each row in the proxy settings window required an IP address and a port number for the proxy. Lower on the screen is an option to enter exceptions. These are addresses which should be contacted directly and not forwarded through the proxy server. These can be entered as IP addresses or domain names. Each item in the list of exceptions is separated either with a semi-colon (';') or a comma (',').
Close each window by pressing the 'OK' button once the proxy settings have been corrected. In some applications, you may need to press an 'Apply' or 'Save' button before closing the window with the 'OK' button.

How to Import an Existing Site to Dreamweaver FTPIn Feburary 2016 07,

In Feburary 2016 07,
Open Dreamweaver, and then click 'Site' from the main menu. Click on 'New Site' from the site menu to start setting up the new site.
Enter the name for the site that will appear in the Dreamweaver site manager on the 'Site' tab. You can use the website's domain name as the site name to help identify the site. Click on the folder icon next to the 'Local Site Folder' box, and create a directory on your computer's hard disk to store the site files. This directory mirrors the site directory on the remote server.
Click on 'Servers' from the menu on the left of the window to view the 'Servers' tab, and then click on the '+' button at the bottom of the box.
Type in a server name to identify the server. Select how Dreamweaver should connect to the server from the 'Connect Using' drop-down menu, such as through FTP or SFTP. Leave this set to 'FTP' if you are unsure of the connection method. Type in the FTP address of the server, as a domain name or IP address, and enter the FTP user name and password in the relevant boxes.
Type in the directory that corresponds to the root directory of the website in the 'Root Directory' box. For example, if you have to change to a directory named 'public_html' to upload files to the website, enter '/public_html/' in the box. If you are automatically located in the root directory of the website when you log in through FTP, leave the box blank. Type in the root URL of the website in the 'Web URL' box, such as 'http://www.domain.com/.'
Click the 'Test' button to test the FTP connection. You should see a notification appear that the connection has been successful. If the connection fails, double-check all the settings with your Web host to ensure they are correct. Click the 'Save' button to save the settings and close the server window. Click the 'Save' button again on the main window to save the site and close.
Select the new site from the site drop-down menu on the Files panel. Press 'F8' to display the panel if it is not already visible. Select 'Remote Server' from the drop-down menu at the top right of the Files panel, and then click the 'Connect' button to connect to the server. You see all the files held on the FTP server for the site displayed in the 'Remote Server' box.
Click on the file or directory at the top of the remote files list to select it, and then hold down the 'Shift' key while clicking the last file or directory to select all files. Right-click on the highlighted files and click 'Get' to download the files to your computer. You can now edit the files in Dreamweaver and upload changed files to the remote server using the 'Put' command.

How to Delete WebsitesIn Feburary 2016 05,

In Feburary 2016 05,
Delete the website files on a UNIX server by using Telnet to access the top directory of the files that make up your website. Enter the UNIX command rm --r [directory] where directory is the name of the parent directory. This will delete all the sub-directories under the website at once. If the parent directory is still there, change to a higher level directory by entering cd followed by to periods. Then type rmdir [directory] where directory is the name of the parent.
Use an FTP program like WS_FTP to access the website files. With this method you will have to work from the bottom up, deleting files in sub-directories and then parent directories, so it is more cumbersome and in the case of a complicated website, can take quite a while.
Delete a website using Adobe Dreamweaver by clicking on 'Site,' then 'Manage Sites.' Highlight the website to be removed and click on 'Remove.' Confirm the action when asked. Microsoft Expression should have a similar function.
Check with the Web host to see if they have a file management system where the user can remove web files directly. You may be able to direct them to remove the website for you with the appropriate authorization. Alternatively, cancel the hosting plan. When you stop paying for the website, the Web hosting company will remove the website for you. Not renewing the domain name when it is due would accomplish the same thing.
Disable a website temporarily by changing the name of the index.html file to something else like index.old. Since most links to a website start at the index.html or index.htm page, even though this isn't typed in the URL box, this will effectively remove the website from access. This won't work if the starting page of the website does not have index.html or index.htm page.
