Ideas for Hosting a Scavenger Hunt at WorkIn Feburary 2016 30,

In Feburary 2016 30,
For a fun, ongoing scavenger hunt that people can do all day, have an ABC scavenger hunt. If you work in an office this works well because you do not have to go outside the office to do it. Everyone simply finds things that start with the letters A through Z. For example, a person might find an apple, a box, a copy machine, and so on until a person reaches something that begins with Z.
Staff Information
Create a list of information about your employees like who has been there the longest, who is the youngest, and who was recently in the local newspaper. This helps everyone get to know each other a little better and highlights positive things about each person. Do this type of scavenger hunt at the beginning of the year or after a group of people have been hired to help coworkers learn about each other.
Out and About
If you work somewhere that is in a neighborhood or a city, take a few hours and let people go in teams and find things on a scavenger hunt list. They must take pictures with each thing. Some examples are a dog, bus stop bench, thrift shop, and a fast food place. This is a fun way to break up the day and let people get to know each other a bit better.
Riddles
Create riddles and split the group into teams so they can work together trying to figure out what each riddle means. Have each riddle lead to another one until all of the clues are solved. Have a prize at the end like a free lunch for the winning team, or a lunch for everyone, but dessert for the winners.

Create a login and password for the FTP account.
Type the folder(s) you want the user to have access to in the Directory field.
Click “Create Account” or similar to create the FTP account.
Supply the person(s) with the FTP account with restricted access. The next time they access the website files via the FileZilla client, they will only have access to the files and directories you specified and won’t be able to change owners.

Tutorial for Crystal ReportsIn Feburary 2016 27,

In Feburary 2016 27,
After you choose Crystal Reports from the Start menu, it opens to the Start Page with three drop-down menus across the top: File, View and Help. In the body of the page, it gives you choices to either start a new report or open recent reports. If you choose to start a new report, you have several options. You can either design your own report from scratch using a blank report or you can use one of several wizards. It will be easiest to start with the report wizard.
Designing and Building Your First Report
Before you start up the wizard, think about what information you need and who needs your report. You'll get a much clearer report if you limit it as closely as possible to only the information your audience needs. When you select report wizard, a window opens up that helps you connect to your database. If your database is not listed under existing connections, you'll have to create a new connection to it. You'll need to tell it what kind of database you're connecting to. Your simplest starting point is to select an Access/DAO database. A window will open that asks for the database name. If you don't know the name, click the ellipsis [...] next to 'database name', to browse. The wizard will walk you through selecting your tables and fields. Make your first report without using grouping. When you get to the record selection window, you can narrow down your data, adding fields into the filter fields section, then using the drop-downs below to specify what data you do and don't want.
Your Report's Appearance
When you finish filtering and click Finish, Crystal Reports will select your data and display it to you on the Preview tab. Click the Design tab. You can add headers and footers here, change their appearance and change the size and name of columns. You have three tool bars at the top of your window. In the lowest one down, the leftmost section is the one that lets you insert text objects, images, charts and such. Experiment. If you're familiar with MS Office or its competitors, the choices will be pretty intuitive.
Publishing Your Report
Under the File menu, you can print your report or export it to other applications such as Word and Excel or as a PDF. You can make it editable or read only. You can export your data into a flat file if that's what you need. Using the print option, you can send your report out as a fax. Export options also let you send your report directly to one of several email applications.

How to Attach an SQL Database to a Web PageIn Feburary 2016 24,

In Feburary 2016 24,
Determine what website functionality you wish to use the database for. Whether it be an order detail page or a product catalogue page, by determining the functionality, you know where to insert the database connection code and how to code your page to show information.
Create your database. Based on the website functionality you need, build the structure needed for your database. Refer to the 'Resources' section below for instructions on how to create a database.
Open the web page that you wish to attach a database to using your HTML editor.
Insert the database connection code in this page. The database connection code is dependent on what kind of programming code you are using for your website. Database connection codes to popular programming codes like ASP.net and PHP are listed in the 'Resources' section.
Test your database connection. Save the page that you edited and open it in your browser. If you do not see any errors posted on the page, and the information from your database is displayed, you have successfully attached a database to your web page.

I Could Not Connect to the Server in FileZilla 1and1In Feburary 2016 24,

In Feburary 2016 24,
Users often confuse hosting accounts with FTP accounts. You enter the username and password for your hosting account to access the website control panel on 1and1. This username and password is not even relevant to FileZilla. Instead, you need to retrieve the details for your FTP account to use FileZilla. You get an FTP username and password in the welcome email when you join. If you no longer have access to this email, get your FTP username from inside the panel and set up a new password.
Account Management
Access your admin control panel by logging into your hosting account. If you have more than one domain, choose which one you want to administer. Select 'FTP Accounts' in the 'Webspace' menu to see your username -- this is the username that you enter into FileZilla to upload files to your website. However, because the password is hidden even in your own account for security reasons, you need to create a new password if you do not know it. Click 'Edit' to see the option to create a new password. Write this and the username down on a piece of paper to make sure you are using the correct account details in FileZilla. You can also click 'New User' to set up additional usernames and passwords for FTP purposes.
Establishing a Connection
Now that you are sure you have the correct username and password for your FTP account, you need to enter the correct information in FileZilla. Open the software, then click the 'Site Manager' icon, which has an image of two computers, near the top. In the window that pops up, select 'New Site' and enter any name for this site, then enter your website address; however, do not enter the 'http' and 'www' portions of the address -- for example, enter 'MySite.com,' not 'www.MySite.com.' Leave the port as '21' and the server type as 'FTP,' but change the 'Logontype' option to 'Normal.' Enter the FTP username and password that you've retrieved from the 'FTP Accounts' section in your 1and1 hosting account. Click 'Save and Exit.' To establish a connection, click the 'Site Manager' icon again, select your website and click 'Connect.'
Other Troubleshooting
If you are still experiencing connection problems, you may have an issue with the FileZilla FTP utility. Because this is free software, download another copy from FileZilla's website. If you still cannot connect with a new copy, 1and1 may be having a server issue; call 866-991-2631 to check the server's status. Another option is to try another free FTP client to isolate whether the problem is FileZilla or 1and1. Examples include Core FTP and Go FTP.

How to Create a Website for a Retail BusinessIn Feburary 2016 24,

In Feburary 2016 24,
Purchase a domain name from a Web registrar or website hosting company such as GoDaddy, JustHost.com or HostGator. Make your domain name similar to your store name if you already have a traditional brick-and-mortar retail shop. Alternatively, try to think of a brandable domain name---one that is short so that customers will remember it.
Purchase a website hosting subscription from a hosting company. Look for a Web hosting service that o contains a one-click system for installing scripts and includes free eCommerce shopping carts, such as Fantastico. For Web hosting plans, most retail businesses need to invest $10 to $20 for a monthly subscription plan (as of 2010).
Decide on an eCommerce shopping cart program. Both free and paid versions of website shopping carts exist. Free programs include Zen Cart and osCommerce, while paid ones include BigCommerce and X-Cart Pro.
Log in to your Web hosting control panel. Upload and install the eCommerce shopping cart program to your website. Create a username and password for the program's administration side.
Shopping Cart Setup
Log in to the administration side of your retail shopping cart website. Familiarize yourself with the user control panel, inventory control system, catalog and product manager as well as the different checkout features like online discounts and coupons.
Edit the layout design of your shopping cart program, and customize your retail store's appearance through the shopping cart administration panel. Most shopping cart software comes with several layout templates you can choose from, which will show featured items and/or allow you to rearrange the main sections and sidebars of your site. These website design capabilities should also provide you with the ability to upload an image of your store logo and your website header.
Create product categories and organize your product listings. Organize and name your categories using main and sub-categories. For example, an apparel retail business may have main product categories such as Men's Clothing, Women's Clothing and Children's Clothing.
Create product listings for each category. Give each product a name and an accurate description, explaining each in terms of size, color and other important features. Also set prices, quantities available and other relevant details such as product weight for shipping purposes.
Edit the shipping module section. Set either a flat-rate shipping price for all orders or make shipping rates order- and weight-dependent. Add shipping vendors that you'll use to fulfill orders such as United States Postal Service, United Parcel Service and FedEx.
Customize the payment section of your site to integrate payment gateways. Add your PayPal credentials or insert your Google Checkout Merchant number and key if you want to offer these checkout methods.
Log out of your shopping cart program's administration panel. Test your retail business website by making a test purchase and navigating your entire site from the customer's side.

How Do I Create a Hyperlink to a Zipped File?In Feburary 2016 19,

In Feburary 2016 19,
Upload the zipped file to your web server, into whatever directory or folder you'd like it to be. You can upload the file using your website hosting control panel or any basic FTP client software.
Save a copy of your web page to your hard drive--save just the page on which you want to create the link. You can save the file using your web browser, the web hosting control panel, or by downloading it with your FTP software.
Open your web page HTML file with a basic text editor such as Windows Notepad, NoteTab or Notepad++.
Select the location in your web page that you'd like to create the hyperlink. Remember that you are viewing the raw HTML code when it's open in a text editor, so you'll need to be sure you place your new hyperlink anywhere after the opening body tag (
), but before the closing body tag (
).
Craft your hyperlink using the full HTML path to your zipped file, like this:Zipped' rel='nofollow' target='_blank'>http://www.yourwebsite.com/folder/zipped.zip">Zipped File'yourwebsite.com' will of course by your own website domain name and extension.
'folder' will be the folder name into which you placed the zip file.
'zipped.zip' will be the actual name of the zipped file for which you are creating the hyperlink.
The words 'Zipped File' will be the words that show as linked on your web page, and they can be whatever you'd like. 'Click here to download this zipped file' for example, would be a nice descriptive phrase that tells people exactly what to do.
Save the changes to your web page file, then reload it onto your web server to make the changes live on your site.

How to Host a FundraiserIn Feburary 2016 19,

In Feburary 2016 19,
Pick a theme. Before holding your event, choose a theme that will represent your cause. If you're raising money for an international adoption, bring in food and decor from that country. If you're trying to raise funds for a charity, come up with ideas that tie into your cause. Even the invitations or fliers should reflect the theme of your event.
Create a budget. Remember that you're trying to raise money, so you are going to have to work within a pretty tight budget. Ask vendors in your area if they would be willing to donate food, raffle prizes or other items for your fundraiser. Some may not have anything to donate but will give you money towards your cause.
Prepare a menu. Depending on your cause, you need to choose between a casual menu or a formal dinner. Some great fundraisers have featured a barbecue, while other successful events have included a 5-course meal. Since you are working within a limited budget, your menu will depend largely on what you can afford to spend. You can have an elegant meal on a small budget just by shopping around at warehouse grocery stores.
Plan the entertainment. You should have something planned besides just a dinner. One great way to raise even more money for your cause is to have a silent auction or even a public auction. You can ask local vendors to donate items to auction. You can also invite a band to play or have a talent show. Try to do something that ties into the evening's theme.
Present your cause. With all of your planning for the fundraiser, it's easy to forget why you are inviting these people here in the first place! Prepare a short presentation about your cause, showing everyone why you are desperate to raise funds and how they can help.
