Get the FTP network address from your Web hosting provider. Universities and corporations also use FTP to transfer files. The FTP address is often formatted: ftp.domainname.com.
Gather your username and password for the account. You may need to contact the system administrator for this information. If it's a Web hosting account, you should have received your login when you opened the account. Otherwise, check your Account page on the Web host's site.
Go to 'Start,' then 'My Computer' in XP.
Click 'Other Places,' then 'My Network Places' and then 'Add a network place.' An 'Add Network' wizard will open.
Select 'Choose another network location,' and enter the FTP network address provided by your organization or Web host.
Enter your username and password. Click 'Next' and give your network a name. It can be any name you want.
Press 'Finish' to complete the setup.
Return to 'My Network Places' and your new FTP connection will be listed.
Double-click the icon and XP will log you in. A window will open, displaying all the files and folders already available in your FTP account.
Drag and drop files into the window to upload them. You can drop multiple files at once. Close the window to end the connection.
