Ideas for Hosting a Scavenger Hunt at WorkIn Feburary 2016 30,

In Feburary 2016 30,
For a fun, ongoing scavenger hunt that people can do all day, have an ABC scavenger hunt. If you work in an office this works well because you do not have to go outside the office to do it. Everyone simply finds things that start with the letters A through Z. For example, a person might find an apple, a box, a copy machine, and so on until a person reaches something that begins with Z.
Staff Information
Create a list of information about your employees like who has been there the longest, who is the youngest, and who was recently in the local newspaper. This helps everyone get to know each other a little better and highlights positive things about each person. Do this type of scavenger hunt at the beginning of the year or after a group of people have been hired to help coworkers learn about each other.
Out and About
If you work somewhere that is in a neighborhood or a city, take a few hours and let people go in teams and find things on a scavenger hunt list. They must take pictures with each thing. Some examples are a dog, bus stop bench, thrift shop, and a fast food place. This is a fun way to break up the day and let people get to know each other a bit better.
Riddles
Create riddles and split the group into teams so they can work together trying to figure out what each riddle means. Have each riddle lead to another one until all of the clues are solved. Have a prize at the end like a free lunch for the winning team, or a lunch for everyone, but dessert for the winners.

What Is the Root Folder in Go Daddy? In Feburary 2016 30,

In Feburary 2016 30,
Your website’s index.html page, also known as the home page, is the main page within the root directory. Internet search engines, domain registering services and related Web services all refer to the index.html page as the gateway to your website and its related pages. If you delete your Go Daddy account’s index.html file, your website will not launch when someone enters its domain name in an Internet browser.
Secondary Pages
Your Go Daddy’s root folder contains any secondary pages linked to the index.html page. Secondary pages may contain information about you or your business, pages with photo or video galleries, pages with contact information and/or external links or pages containing additional information related to your website. Your root folder can even contain pages that are not linked to the index.html page.
Images and Videos
In addition to the index.html and secondary pages, the root folder also contains any images and videos that are part of your website’s pages. The image and video files are linked to the pages using hyperlinks. If you make changes to any of your website’s images and videos, you must upload the new version of the files to your Go Daddy root folder before the changes are reflected on your website.
Additional Elements
Your Go Daddy’s root folder may also hold files and folders that may or may not be viewable by guests to website. These files and folders may include databases holding information collected about your website, guest book data files, folders containing pages you haven’t launched yet. You can also use your root folder as a backup directory by uploading files from your computer to the root folder, if desired.
Accessibility
Anyone can view your Go Daddy’s root folder using any Internet browser by entering your website’s Internet Protocol address, also known as the IP address. Visitors can see your root folder’s pages, folders and other files. You can restrict individuals from seeing your root folder by creating a false domain name and linking it to your Go Daddy IP address via “Domain Management.” You must log in to your Go Daddy “Account Manager” and access the “Web Hosting” link and then click “Launch” to navigate to the Domain Management utility. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the restriction process.

How to Change Hosting Services Without Losing Email InformationIn Feburary 2016 27,

In Feburary 2016 27,
Start a new account with the web hosting service of your choice, but do not close your account with your current host. Otherwise, you risk permanently losing your website and email information.
Make a note of every email account hosted on your website. Write down each email address–and password if you want to keep them the same–or type them in a file and save the file. Keep this information private so that no one can access your email accounts without your permission.
Back up your website. Access the backup tool on your user panel with your current hosting service and select the options necessary to do a complete site backup, rather than any kind of partial backup. Save the resulting file on your computer.
Access the backup tool on your user panel with your new hosting service. Select the option to upload a complete site backup. Find your site backup, upload it and select the option to complete the backup upload process.
Create all the same email accounts you have on your current server on your new server. Use the passwords you saved in step 1 if you wish to keep them the same, or make up new passwords if you prefer. Be sure to use passwords that you will remember but that would be difficult for someone else to guess.
Close your account with your current hosting service.

Tutorial for Crystal ReportsIn Feburary 2016 27,

In Feburary 2016 27,
After you choose Crystal Reports from the Start menu, it opens to the Start Page with three drop-down menus across the top: File, View and Help. In the body of the page, it gives you choices to either start a new report or open recent reports. If you choose to start a new report, you have several options. You can either design your own report from scratch using a blank report or you can use one of several wizards. It will be easiest to start with the report wizard.
Designing and Building Your First Report
Before you start up the wizard, think about what information you need and who needs your report. You'll get a much clearer report if you limit it as closely as possible to only the information your audience needs. When you select report wizard, a window opens up that helps you connect to your database. If your database is not listed under existing connections, you'll have to create a new connection to it. You'll need to tell it what kind of database you're connecting to. Your simplest starting point is to select an Access/DAO database. A window will open that asks for the database name. If you don't know the name, click the ellipsis [...] next to 'database name', to browse. The wizard will walk you through selecting your tables and fields. Make your first report without using grouping. When you get to the record selection window, you can narrow down your data, adding fields into the filter fields section, then using the drop-downs below to specify what data you do and don't want.
Your Report's Appearance
When you finish filtering and click Finish, Crystal Reports will select your data and display it to you on the Preview tab. Click the Design tab. You can add headers and footers here, change their appearance and change the size and name of columns. You have three tool bars at the top of your window. In the lowest one down, the leftmost section is the one that lets you insert text objects, images, charts and such. Experiment. If you're familiar with MS Office or its competitors, the choices will be pretty intuitive.
Publishing Your Report
Under the File menu, you can print your report or export it to other applications such as Word and Excel or as a PDF. You can make it editable or read only. You can export your data into a flat file if that's what you need. Using the print option, you can send your report out as a fax. Export options also let you send your report directly to one of several email applications.

How to Attach an SQL Database to a Web PageIn Feburary 2016 24,

In Feburary 2016 24,
Determine what website functionality you wish to use the database for. Whether it be an order detail page or a product catalogue page, by determining the functionality, you know where to insert the database connection code and how to code your page to show information.
Create your database. Based on the website functionality you need, build the structure needed for your database. Refer to the 'Resources' section below for instructions on how to create a database.
Open the web page that you wish to attach a database to using your HTML editor.
Insert the database connection code in this page. The database connection code is dependent on what kind of programming code you are using for your website. Database connection codes to popular programming codes like ASP.net and PHP are listed in the 'Resources' section.
Test your database connection. Save the page that you edited and open it in your browser. If you do not see any errors posted on the page, and the information from your database is displayed, you have successfully attached a database to your web page.

The Advantages of ProtocolsIn Feburary 2016 22,

In Feburary 2016 22,
Transfer protocols move files and data from one location to another. Two computers in the operation are required: one is a transferring server and the other a receiving client. Several file transfer protocols include the following:FTP (file transfer protocol) allows the transfer of files. It establishes a connection to a remote client and transfers the files until completed, and then it disconnects. The connection can be in an internal network or over the Internet. Developed in 1971, this protocol served as one of the objectives for the development of the Internet.Xmodem is an alternative to the FTP protocol. It was popular with bulletin board services in the late 1970s because of its simplicity and ease of use.Kermit is a binary (0's and 1's) and text file transfer protocol designed in the early 1980s. For the transfer to occur a file conversion takes place to binary format before transmittal and then converted back afterwards. This allowed for file transfers over dissimilar systems. The advantage of these file transfer protocols is that they share information between different computer systems and different formats.

Transfer protocols allow files and data to move across networks.
E-mail Protocols
The Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) allows an e-mail client to access e-mail messages on a remote e-mail server.IMAP supports two modes of operation: online and offline. In online mode, e-mail clients using IMAP leave the e-mail messages on the server until the user purposely deletes them. In offline mode, the e-mail is downloaded and then deleted. This characteristic of the IMAP operation allows multiple clients to manage the same mailbox. The upshot is that the mail stays on the server automatically until deleted.POP (Post Office Protocol) is an alternate e-mail protocol that supports simple download and delete for access to remote mailboxes. Most POP clients have an option to leave e-mail on the server after download. However, e-mail clients typically follow this procedure. They connect to the server, retrieve their messages, store them on the user's local PC and then delete them from the server and disconnect. The upshot is, the mail is automatically deleted unless kept. The advantage of both of these protocols is enhanced e-mail management.
Fotolia.com'>
E-mail protocols allow personal information to go to other individuals.
Software Developer Protocols
Software developers use protocols in their work. Platform-based database protocols like JDBC (Java DataBase Connectivity) or ADO (active x database objects) have a performance advantage. Also, flexibility and reuse are two main advantages of using a neutral platform protocol such as SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol). This is a protocol specification that facilitates the exchange of structured information in web services.By using protocols, software architects and program developers can determine the opportunity cost of the project, that is, whether the development is going to be faster versus whether the program is going to be faster. These performance versus flexibility alternatives affect the coding decision, which impacts the way the program will run.The advantage of using these protocols is that they improve the performance of programs and provide flexibility in program design.

Software that uses protocols can perform faster and is more flexible.

How to Download an FTP SiteIn Feburary 2016 21,

In Feburary 2016 21,
Secure server space to host your website and collect content you would like to be posted on your site. Now you are ready to transfer your files from your computer to the Web server space via FTP. Download Filezilla from the Web. Filezilla is a free FTP program which is downloaded onto your computer for use in connecting your computer files to your chosen server or Web host. The FTP upload of files to your website is often referred to as the 'back end' of Web design, as you are working 'behind the scenes', so to speak.
Once you have downloaded the Filezilla program, open it on your computer. Enter the required information for the transfer, including your website host's Web address, the port being used for the transfer, the server type, your Web address for the new site, and your account information -- including your password -- for the server. You may need to refer to your own records and/or make contact with your server for some of this information. Once you have entered this information into Filezilla, hit Enter, and it will connect you to the server which will host your site.
Fotolia.com'>
You will need the password for your server account when uploading files via FTP.
Once connected to your server's site via Filezilla, you will see your computer's files on the left side of the screen and the website files on the right side. Right-click a cursor over the file on the left you want to transfer, and then drag it over to the right side area of the screen where the server files are, then take your finger off the cursor. Name the file/page by entering the file or page name into the box that appears. Hit enter, and you now have a page visible to the public posted onto your website.
Fotolia.com'>
FTP transfers are done by dragging files with a mouse or cursor.
Name each page or file that you transfer via FTP with name patterns, lest you lose track of what is where within your Web directory shell. Too many files without organization makes an unmanageable site. I name all photo files in my website's directory with the prefix of 'photo' so I know it is a photo file. For instance, I would use photobeach.jpg instead of beach.jpg. Eventually, this will give you neat sections of your web directory with groupings such as photos, banners, videos and documents.
Fotolia.com'>
Photos are more managable in a website directory if labeled with a 'photo' prefix.

How to Calculate LIFO FIFOIn Feburary 2016 17,

In Feburary 2016 17,
Download the price and unit list of the products currently in the company’s inventory. The price list will include the number of units purchased and the prices at which the units were purchased. The information will be ranked according to date of purchase; the units purchased most recently will be at the top of the list.
Determine the number of units sold from inventory. Suppose the company sold 350 units of inventory on August 1.
Multiply the prices the company paid for the most recent units by the number of units sold to determine LIFO cost of goods sold. Suppose the company purchased 100 units of inventory for $5 on January 1, 200 units for $8 on March 1, and 100 units for $10 on June 1. The LIFO cost of goods sold for these units would equal (100 x $10) + (200 x $8) + (50 x $5) = $2,850. The value of units remaining in inventory according to LIFO equals (50 x $5), or $250.
Calculating FIFO
Download the same price and unit list of the products currently in the company’s inventory, and rank the information according to date so that the most recent inventory purchases are at the top of the list.
Determine the number of units sold from inventory. Using the same example, suppose the the company sold 350 units on August 1.
Multiply the prices the company paid for the oldest units by the number of units sold to determine the FIFO cost of goods sold. Again, suppose the company purchased 100 units of inventory for $5 on January 1, 200 units for $8 on March 1 and 100 units for $10 on June 1. The FIFO cost of goods sold for these units will equal (100 x $5) + (200 x $8) + (50 x $10) = $2,600. The value of units remaining in inventory according to FIFO equals (50 x $10), or $500.

How to Setup a DNS ServerIn Feburary 2016 17,

In Feburary 2016 17,
Install the DNS server software. If the local network is running Windows, install Microsoft DNS software for the best integration.
Input a list of DNS servers, 'forwarders' that can be used to retrieve DNS information, into the software. Two or three forwarders are sufficient.
Set up security policies to restrict or allow access to the DNS server. Bandwidth will be used up quickly if numerous Internet users have access to the DNS server.
If the DNS server will be serving a domain, set up the DNS for that domain. Input the 'A' (address) records, 'MX' (mail exchange) records and any other required DNS records.
If the DNS server will be serving a domain, have that domain's registrar delegate to the DNS server. This can often be done on the domain registrar's website.
