Gather the following: type of proxy server, the IP address or DNS name for the server and the port number. The person who purchased an Internet subscription from an ISP (the network administrator) should be able to provide this information.
Choose 'Preferences' under the Safari menu.
Select 'Advanced.' From this menu, you'll be able to configure and set your proxies.
Click and select any one of the listed proxy settings offered. Each proxy setting (web proxy, secure proxy, FTP proxy, SOCKS proxy or streaming proxy) is configured the same way, by entering the URL of proxy server and the port number provided by the website. For example, for a web proxy configuration, enter a URL server, such as 'proxy.rice.edu,' and its port, 8080. For a list of web proxies, see Resources.

Slow Transfer Speeds with TeamViewerIn Feburary 2016 20,
In Feburary 2016 20,
Both your Internet speed and the recipient's Internet speed determine how quickly a file transfers between computers. On your end, as the sender, the speed is determined by your upload speed. Unfortunately, U.S. service providers have plans with high download speeds but only offer a small fraction of that speed for uploads. The speed is also hindered by the recipient's download speed. If you have an upload speed of 4Mbps but the recipient only has a download speed of 3Mbps, you won't be able to take full advantage of your speed.
Available Bandwidth
Similar to the network speeds, you can only use so much bandwidth at once. If you're also hosting a video conference in TeamViewer, downloading files in your browser, streaming video or playing an online game, the speed of all your online applications suffers. Turning off any other bandwidth-heavy applications increases the bandwidth dedicated to your TeamViewer file transfer.
Opening a Port
For transfer speeds that fall significantly short of your maximum, you can try opening a port on your router to allow TeamViewer traffic to pass through unimpeded. For the most part, TeamViewer uses HTTP ports -- ports 80 and 443. You can also set TCP port 5938 open for outgoing traffic. If you're using a firewall, allow TeamViewer to communicate through your firewall. Windows comes with a built-in firewall; you can manage the settings by opening Windows Firewall in the Control Panel.
Connection Types
If either computer involved in the transfer is connected via a wireless connection, the transfer speed isn't going to be at its peak. Wireless connections lose speed, with significant loss the farther you get from the signal source. Some routers also see a loss in speed due to power settings that reduce power usage and thus output. For the best possible connection and transfer speeds, connect both computers to the Internet via Ethernet cable.

How to Increase Steam Download SpeedIn Feburary 2016 17,
In Feburary 2016 17,
Start the Steam software to initiate any waiting downloads.
Close all programs that are also running and might be using your computer's Internet connection, including Web browsers, email clients, video players and iTunes. Peer-to-peer programs like uTorrent or Limewire are especially hard on your Internet connection.
Repeat Step 2 for all computers connected to the same network. If possible, shut down computers that are not being used.
Avoid media-heavy sites like YouTube or Pandora if you must use the Web while Steam is downloading. Use only one window or tab at a time.
Changing Steam Settings
Switch to your Steam window. Click 'Settings,' then click the 'Downloads' tab.
Choose the region or city closest to your physical location. If this is already set to your location, try another; different Steam server that may be less crowded with download requests.
Click 'Internet Connection Speed.' Click the fastest speed available (even if your connection is not actually this fast), then click 'OK.'

How to Create Your Own Game ServerIn Feburary 2016 15,
In Feburary 2016 15,
Go to the 'Run' option in your computer's 'Start' menu and input 'cmd' to enter the command prompt. Input 'ipconfig /all' in the prompt, and write down your subnet mask and default gateway DNS server as they appear. Write down the IP address also, but you only need the first three sets of numbers, which should be 192.168.1.
Return to the 'Start' menu and go to the 'Control Panel.' Then go to 'Network and Internet Connections,' 'Network Connections.' Right-click on the Internet connection you are using and select 'Properties.' Then select 'Internet Protocol,' 'Properties.' Check the box for 'Static IP address.'
Fill out all of the needed information in the next window with what you wrote down. For the IP address, type in those first three sets of numbers from your original address, all followed by periods, then enter a number of your choice after that (up to three digits). Click 'OK' when finished.
Open your Internet browser to confirm that your static IP address works.
Creating the Server
Download a game server tool such as HLDS Update Tool or HLSW and save it to your desktop. Run the tool to install its files and programs. It basically asks what part of the world you're in and what destination folder you want to use for the program (the default location is Program Files).
Return to the command prompt. Type in 'cd' followed by a space and the full address of the program's location (for example, 'C:\Program Files\Valve\HLServer'). Press 'Enter.'
Type in the command update for your server tool, including the name for the game you want to create a server for. If you're creating a Counter Strike: Source server on HLDS Update Tool, type 'hldsupdatetool.exe -command update -game 'Counter-Strike Source' -dir .' (including the space and period at the end and the quotation marks in the middle).
Wait for the program to install your server after entering the last command. This can take half an hour to an hour, depending on your Internet speed.

Types of Server SoftwareIn Feburary 2016 03,
In Feburary 2016 03,
The most familiar type of server software serves a series of files on a computer onto the web in the form of a website. It is able to do this using the HyperText Transfer Protocol, or HTTP, a method through which web browsers request data from web servers and web servers respond with the data: usually a combination of HTML files and images. Popular web servers include Apache and Microsoft IIS.
FTP Server Software
While web servers use the HTTP, FTP servers use the File Transfer Protocol, which is the most common method for rapidly transferring large files across a network. FTP server software works in conjunction with FTP client software, programs designed for users doing the transferring. Common FTP servers and clients include Filezilla and Crush FTP.
Mail Server Software
Mail servers are programs that allow you to send and receive email. Unlike web or FTP servers, mail servers often use three different common protocols: SMTP (the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol), POP (the Post Office Protocol) and IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol). POP and IMAP are used primarily for receiving mail, while SMTP can be used for sending or receiving. Common mail servers include Eudora and Mercury Mail.
Database Server Software
Database servers, as the title suggests, serve databases over a network. Databases provide content to the web: they can contain anything from articles to numbers to a member or product directory. Data server capability is often wrapped inside a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS), a set of programs that aid in the creation and maintenance of databases. Common RDBMSes include Oracle and MySQL.
Miscellaneous Server Software
Since a server is defined as any program that connects files to a network, servers don't necessarily have to aid in creating websites. iTunes and other audio programs use music servers that stream music between computers. Online games such as World of Warcraft use dozens of servers that allow users to log on and play. Instant messenging programs (with the exception of peer-to-peer programs, which cut out the server as a middle man) use servers as well.
