Progress Bar TutorialIn Feburary 2016 26,

In Feburary 2016 26,
As an operation proceeds, the code continuously reads how much is completed and calculates the status. If the Minimum value is set to one and the Maximum to 100, the bar will fill half the bar display when 50 percent of the operation is completed. To perform this calculation, the programmer must know how long the operation will take. As an example, if the user is downloading a five MB file, by the time 2.5 MB have downloaded, the bar will have moved halfway across.
Create a Progress Bar
Start by creating a new project after opening Visual Basic. Click on 'File,' 'New Project' and select the 'Standard EXE' format. Add the ProgressBar control by clicking on 'Project,' 'Components.' Find the Microsoft Windows Common Controls in the list. Choose the Microsoft Visual Basic Common Controls (SP6) by placing a checkmark in the box next to the control. Click on 'Apply' and 'OK.' You should see the control in the list in the left panel. Double click on this to add it to the form.
Set the Properties
If working with an operation where the percentage of completion is easy to calculate like a file download, set the Minimum property in the Properties panel to '1' and the maximum to '100.' Another way to set the maximum is to have the code count the number of iterations of some operation, compare this to the total number, and calculate where the bar should be. Height and Left properties control the height of the bar itself and where it appears from the left of the screen. Only two other properties matter: Whether the bar runs across the screen vertically or horizontally and whether incremental chunks appear or the bar is smoother. Choose these from the 'Orientation' and 'Scrolling Properties.' If the maximum cannot be predetermined, it is possible to use an Animation control to keep the bar moving until the operation completes. This enhancement goes beyond the level of this tutorial. Since the bar should not appear until an operation commences, set the Visible property to 'False.' For this example, set the Maximum property to '10000' and leave the Minimum at '0.' Finally, add a Command Button control from the Tools list to the form to initiate action. Change the (Name) property to 'btnStart' and the Caption to 'Start.'
Write the Code
Click on 'View,' 'Code' to open the programming window. Type the lines below exactly as shown. The first three lines load the form and make the Progress Bar visible. The rest of the code runs through a repetitive sequence to demonstrate the bar. The end number in this code is set very high to slow the Progress Bar down for visibility. Replace the steps in the second section beginning with 'Private Sub btnStart_Click() and ending 'End Sub' with whatever event you are timing to get a new ProgressBar1.Value. Always add a command to change the visibility of the bar to 'False' when the routine finishes.Private Sub Form_Load()
ProgressBar1.Visible = True
End SubPrivate Sub btnStart_Click()
Dim n As Integer
For n = 1 To 10000
ProgressBar1.Value = n
Next n
End SubTest the code by pressing the 'F5' key.
Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition Version
In the Visual Basic 2008, substitute the following lines for the lines beginning Private Sub:Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal eventSender As System.Object, ByVal eventArgs As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Private Sub btnStart_Click(ByVal eventSender As System.Object, ByVal eventArgs As System.EventArgs) Handles btnStart.Click

How to Create a Website for a Retail BusinessIn Feburary 2016 24,

In Feburary 2016 24,
Purchase a domain name from a Web registrar or website hosting company such as GoDaddy, JustHost.com or HostGator. Make your domain name similar to your store name if you already have a traditional brick-and-mortar retail shop. Alternatively, try to think of a brandable domain name---one that is short so that customers will remember it.
Purchase a website hosting subscription from a hosting company. Look for a Web hosting service that o contains a one-click system for installing scripts and includes free eCommerce shopping carts, such as Fantastico. For Web hosting plans, most retail businesses need to invest $10 to $20 for a monthly subscription plan (as of 2010).
Decide on an eCommerce shopping cart program. Both free and paid versions of website shopping carts exist. Free programs include Zen Cart and osCommerce, while paid ones include BigCommerce and X-Cart Pro.
Log in to your Web hosting control panel. Upload and install the eCommerce shopping cart program to your website. Create a username and password for the program's administration side.
Shopping Cart Setup
Log in to the administration side of your retail shopping cart website. Familiarize yourself with the user control panel, inventory control system, catalog and product manager as well as the different checkout features like online discounts and coupons.
Edit the layout design of your shopping cart program, and customize your retail store's appearance through the shopping cart administration panel. Most shopping cart software comes with several layout templates you can choose from, which will show featured items and/or allow you to rearrange the main sections and sidebars of your site. These website design capabilities should also provide you with the ability to upload an image of your store logo and your website header.
Create product categories and organize your product listings. Organize and name your categories using main and sub-categories. For example, an apparel retail business may have main product categories such as Men's Clothing, Women's Clothing and Children's Clothing.
Create product listings for each category. Give each product a name and an accurate description, explaining each in terms of size, color and other important features. Also set prices, quantities available and other relevant details such as product weight for shipping purposes.
Edit the shipping module section. Set either a flat-rate shipping price for all orders or make shipping rates order- and weight-dependent. Add shipping vendors that you'll use to fulfill orders such as United States Postal Service, United Parcel Service and FedEx.
Customize the payment section of your site to integrate payment gateways. Add your PayPal credentials or insert your Google Checkout Merchant number and key if you want to offer these checkout methods.
Log out of your shopping cart program's administration panel. Test your retail business website by making a test purchase and navigating your entire site from the customer's side.

How to Set up a Free Classified SiteIn Feburary 2016 22,

In Feburary 2016 22,
Come up with a plan for your classified website. Figure out what type of classified ad site you want to set up. Go online and do your research of various online classified scripts before you make your purchase. Look in Resources for recommendations.
Register your domain name (see Resources). The domain name registrar will give you access to your domain's control panel.
Purchase a hosting package. Make sure your Web hosting package meets all the requirements of your script for it to install and work properly. If you are not sure, contact tech support. Setting up the hosting will give you access to your FTP server and your DNS server entries.
Purchase a classified script. Download and unpack the script on your computer, following the manufacturer's instructions.
Log into your domain's control panel and change its DNS settings to point to your Web host's server.
Log into your Web host's CPanel and look for the MySQL icon. Open it to create a database for your classified script. If you are not sure about how to do this, contact the script's tech support team for help.
Download an FTP program. An FTP program transfers files between your computer and your Web host.
Log into your Web host's server using your FTP program and its authentication settings. Now upload the script files to your Web host's server.
Open your Web browser, type your Web address in the Search box and click 'Search.' You should see your new classified website.

How to Rename My DomainIn Feburary 2016 19,

In Feburary 2016 19,
Buy a new domain name from an online seller such as GoDaddy.com, Domain.com or CheckDomain.com. You usually hold the name for one or two years. Selecting 'auto renewal' means the company will automatically charge you at the end of that period, so you can keep the domain name for another year or two years. As of 2010, it usually costs $10 to $20 per year.
Log into the control panel of your hosting account. You already have this if you have been running a website under another domain name. Otherwise, buy hosting (space on the web to hold your website)from a site such as HostGator.com, GoDaddy.com or ASmallOrange.com.
Go to the 'Domains' section of your hosting account. If the service allows you to change the domain name manually, the relevant heading will be something like 'Primary Domain' or 'Change Primary Domain.' Click to enter the section, type in your new domain name and click 'OK' or the equivalent to confirm.
Log into the program you use to design, edit and publish your website. Publish the website, entering the new domain name or ftp address (available from your hosting provider) and password when prompted.
Alternatives
Email or phone your hosting provider directly to request a change to your primary domain name. Some providers do not allow you to change the domain name manually. Tell them your new domain name and republish the website when the provider confirms the change.
Log into the control panel of your hosting account, go to 'Domains' or the equivalent section, select 'Forward Domain' and enter your new domain name. You do not have to republish. Typing the new domain name into the address bar takes users directly to the site under the previous domain name.
Select 'Mask domain' when adding the forward domain if you do not want users to be able to see the old domain name. It will still direct users to the previous site, but only the new domain name will be visible in the address bar.

Click 'File' and 'Save.' Preview your Web page to test your changes by pressing F12.
