How Do I Stop Blocking Javascripts?In Feburary 2016 26,
In Feburary 2016 26,
Malicious exploits using JavaScript often pretend to be in the Local Zone to gain additional privileges. Microsoft's solution to this issue was to make the Local Zone security more restrictive than the Web, blocking JavaScript, Flash and other active content on pages viewed on the local file system. Blocking Javascripts and other active content becomes an issue for Web developers who test their Web pages on their desktop computers before uploading updated pages to their websites.
Mark of the Web
One workaround to this issue is to add 'The Mark of the Web' to your Web page to trick Internet Explorer into treating the local file as if it were loaded from a different zone. 'The Mark of the Web' is a specially formatted comment Internet Explorer adds to Web pages when they are saved from the Web, and grants the local copy the same privileges as the source website.Add the 'Mark of the Web' to the top of your Web page (below the DOCTYPE declaration if one is present) For example:
Change the Web address to the address of your website, and the number '0026' to the number of characters in your Web address, including the http and all punctuation. If you are using Adobe Dreamweaver, it features a command to automatically add 'The Mark of the Web' to your Web page. Select 'Insert Mark of the Web' in the Commands menu. The mark can be removed by selecting 'Remove Mark of the Web' in the Commands menu.
Other Testing Methods
'The Mark of the Web' is the simplest and easiest way to stop blocking JavaScripts in Internet Explorer. However, many Web developers may find this method aesthetically displeasing, and it becomes cumbersome when managing large websites. Another option is to test your Web pages on a Web server. You can install a Web server, such as XAMPP, on your desktop computer, or create a test folder under your website to upload and test Web pages. Check with your hosting provider or systems administrator to see if they can provide a test website for you.

Java GUI Design TutorialIn Feburary 2016 17,
In Feburary 2016 17,
The Java JDK (Java Development Kit) includes the Java virtual machine, the Java compiler and a wide range of useful libraries (or 'packages,' in Java parlance) including AWT and Swing. The place to go for the latest Java is The Source for Java Developers (see link in Resources). On the right-hand column you will see Popular Downloads, click 'Java SE' to bring up a new page. Look for the JDK that comes with NetBeans (see link in Resources). Download and install.
Using NetBeans to Make Your First GUI
With NetBeans IDE and the Java SDK installed, building the first GUI is easy. NetBeans IDE will display a start page that includes links to tutorials on the NetBeans IDE and Java. This example creates a simple application to say, 'One World!' At the top left of the NetBeans IDE, click File > New Project. A New Project dialog box appears. Under Categories, click 'Java.' Under Projects, click Java Desktop Application > Next. A new screen comes up with the 'Project Name' and 'DesktopApplication1' highlighted. Change 'DesktopApplication1' to 'OneWorld!' Click 'Finish.' The dialog box will disappear. NetBeans IDE will reorganize itself into three tabbed windows--one labeled 'Projects,' a middle one showing a Design layout for a simple GUI and the third labeled 'Palette,' which shows different Containers and Controls. Under Palette > Swing Controls > Label. Grab and pull it into the middle display, in the middle part of the gray GUI space. The Label will become surrounded by some smaller drag handles (for resizing) and some thin gray-blue guidelines and in the middle, the text will read 'jLabel1.' Double click 'jLabel1,' and type 'One World!' Press the 'F6' key to run the program. You have built your first Java GUI.
Next Steps
To learn more, follow the tutorials for Java available with the NetBeans IDE. Begin with a detailed tutorial to help you deepen your knowledge and expertise in Java (see link in Resources).

How to Find a WordPress Page on My ServerIn Feburary 2016 14,
In Feburary 2016 14,
Open your server explorer or FTP program so you can see a view of the entries on your server. This requires an active FTP account with your server company, with a correct log-in name and password. You need to be able to see all of the files currently hosted on your server.
Look for WordPress files in the root directory for your domain. If you are hosting a WordPress site, your WordPress package will be installed on your server in the root directory for that site. For example, if your website is called MyBlog.com, look for WordPress files under the directory for 'MyBlog.' Most of the WordPress files within that directory will be identifiable because they are named with the preface 'wp-' such as 'wp-content,' 'wp-admin,' or 'wp-includes.'
Search for WordPress files in other subfolders. If you are hosting a WordPress page, but within a non-WordPress website, look for these 'wp-' files in other sub-folders on the server. They are usually found in a trio, 'wp-content,' 'wp-admin,' and 'wp-includes,' plus approximately 30 files that make up the root of WordPress. For example, if you have a special blogger's page within your MySite.com website, look under the server directory for 'MySite/blogpagename' for WordPress files.
Conduct a search for PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) files, as many WordPress files are PHP files. Open your FTP program's search box and type in '*.PHP' and the search function will locate all PHP files on your server. Note where these PHP files are located, especially in large numbers. You can usually back track and find the remaining WordPress files associated with these PHP files by following these clues.
Run a search on a specific file you remember creating for your WordPress site, such as a unique name for a graphics or picture file. If you can recall uploading a photograph named 'angrycat.jpg,' for example, search for that term, 'angrycat.' Invariably, the picture file will be nestled inside a WordPress image file, which may in turn be found within the Wp-Content folder, and so forth.
Reinstall WordPress. If all else fails and you can neither find a missing WordPress file, nor get your WordPress site to function correctly, reload a fresh copy of WordPress to the proper directory on your server. You can simply discard any duplicate files found by your FTP upload program so you do not need to delete any files currently in the directory folder. Your WordPress 'engine' will be properly installed in the correct location again.
