SCP vs. FTP SpeedIn Feburary 2016 30,

In Feburary 2016 30,
Comparing SCP and FTP is a bit uneven, because SCP has been designed to work within the same network, and FTP is an Internet protocol designed for use on remote servers. FTP also tends to be used for moving multiple files; while you can use wildcards to transfer multiple files or copy entire directories in SCP, that's not the most common use for it. All in all, SCP and FTP are about evenly matched in speed when compared on the same network and with the same file; but your mileage may vary depending on the size of the files you're transferring and the way your network is configured. Your use of command flags may change files as well; Chris Dillon, software developer and writer of the tech blog Squarism uses '-c arcfour' to speed up the SCP transfer in his testing.
Security
An SCP transfer is an individual transfer -- you use 'scp' in a terminal to copy your files or directory to the other computer, without any frills or other options. It's a one-time movement, as opposed to FTP. With FTP you log in to an FTP session and can not only copy files from your computer, but can also manage files on the remote computer. This includes the ability to rename, delete, move, and modify files from the remote computer. SCP is a secure transfer; it uses secure shell to encrypt both your data and credentials. FTP does not offer protection against anyone who may be trying to view your network credentials.
Use
SCP is a Unix command designed to be used from the terminal. FTP is more flexible in that you can use it either in a terminal or using a graphic program such as WinSCP for Filezilla. You can also use FTP in a terminal, though this isn't common among casual Internet users. Should you choose to use the terminal, you'll need to look up FTP commands. For the most part they're very similar to basic commands – for instance, to transfer a file from your computer to the remote location you would use 'put test.file.'
Alternatives
The major benefit to SCP is the security; the benefit to FTP is the control over your destination. If neither quite meets your needs, a potential solution is SFTP, which was built using both FTP and SSH — secure shell — to create a protocol that's secure and allows you to control your destination area. In terms of speed, you're not going to see any major difference between FTP and SFTP; if anything, SFTP is going to be slower due to the need to secure your transfer. SFTP is also going to be slower than SCP. SFTP can be used in the terminal or in software designed for the task, the same as FTP.

How to Fix an Overheating CarIn Feburary 2016 21,

In Feburary 2016 21,
Pull over into the nearest safe spot when the water temperature gauge shows that your car is overheating. Shut off the engine and open the hood, let as much heat escape as possible. Turn your ignition on so your heating system works. Turn on the heat and the blower at full blast for a few minutes in order to subtract more heat from the engine system. Do not shower the engine with cold water, let it cool off gradually. Depending on what climate zone you´re in, that process could take well over an hour.
Check the engine coolant level in the radiator tank. If that level is low, open cap and fill tank with engine coolant. If you do not have any engine coolant with you, you can use cold water as well. Start the engine after it cooled off in order to let the coolant or water circulate into the radiator system. Keep the engine running in 'neutral'. Fill more coolant or water into the tank until the level reaches the mark 'hot'. Close cap and watch the temperature gauge for a few minutes while the engine idles. If the engine does not overheat again, you can safely drive on. If you used water to fill the tank, you should drive to the nearest service station and replace some of the water in your radiator with engine coolant.
Watch the temperature gauge after you started the cooled-off engine with the freshly added coolant or water. It is okay if the gauge goes over the safe limit mark for a few seconds, then bounces back into safe temperature regions. That means your thermostat is working properly. However, if the engine overheats again for more than 30 seconds, shut it off. Most likely, you will need a new thermostat, or in some very rare instances, a new hose. Do not attempt to drive an overheated car to the nearest service station for a thermostat replacement, which is an inexpensive and quick repair job which just about any mechanic can do. Have the car towed.

What Is the Port for Plesk? In Feburary 2016 21,

In Feburary 2016 21,
Plesk Panel is an application that serves as the centerpiece of an Internet website hosting service provider. The Web hosting server runs the Plesk Panel and allows customers to connect to their own dashboard on the server through Plesk. Once connected, customers can design websites, manage files and install new Internet applications on their pages. The Plesk Panel also allows the website host to manage customers, assign FTP accounts, enable development software and manage account billing.
About Plesk Ports
Plesk requires several different open ports, depending on the type of services you provide on the Web hosting server. For example, to allow FTP transfers, you must open ports 20 and 21. For website hosting services, you must open port 80. If you want to provide POP3 and SMTP mail services, you must open ports 25 and 110. The KB Parallels help files include a page that lists all ports and the services that correspond to each number. Determine which services you want to use to know what ports you need to open.
Opening Router Ports
Some routers provide a built-in firewall as an extra layer of protection. If you use a router on your server’s network, ensure that you open the ports on the router as well as the computer firewall. You can access your router’s administrator dashboard by typing the router’s IP address into any Internet browser address bar, on a computer that is connected to the router. From there, access the port forwarding area of the dashboard and manually type in the port forwarding rule for each Plesk port number you wish to open.
Opening Firewall Ports
The method for opening ports on the computer firewall varies depending on the type of firewall installed on your server. Firewall software allows you to configure rules and exceptions that you can use to manually open port numbers based on the services you use with Plesk. For example, if you use the built-in Windows Firewall, access the Firewall settings form the Security section of your computer and select “Allow a program through Windows Firewall.” Here you can “Add a Port” and configure the Plesk port numbers, instructing the firewall to allow traffic through for the specific services.

How to Calculate Memory Transfer RateIn Feburary 2016 16,

In Feburary 2016 16,
Determine the bus clock rate. This information should be labeled on the memory's packaging. The bus clock rate is measured in MHz. For example, the memory might operate at 300 MHz.
Multiply the bus clock rate by 1, 2 or 3 depending on how many streams of information are flowing at once. DDR2 RAM, for example, has a multiplication factor of 2, and DDR3 RAM has a factor of 3.
Multiply the result from the previous step by 64, which is the number of bits transferred.
Divide the result from the previous step by 8 to get the transfer rate in bytes instead of bits, as there are 8 bits in a byte. You now know the memory transfer rate in both bits and bytes.

Where Are Some Cool Places to Throw a Halloween Party? In Feburary 2016 15,

In Feburary 2016 15,
Host your Halloween party at home for a cozy and familiar environment. Doing this will let you have full creative control on where your guests enjoy themselves and on how you decorate. Purchase black lights to replace your home's traditional lighting, or incorporate various colors of light throughout your home (such as orange lighting in your bathroom to go along with the theme of Halloween). Purchase a fog machine to give the added effect of a spooky atmosphere. Other decorations, such as fake cobwebs, statues and household decorations, are available at local Halloween store outlets or online (see Resources).
At a Haunted House
Renting a haunted house is a possibility, depending on your surrounding area and available houses. Many haunted houses are open for the public during the fall and around Halloween, so you may have to call many haunted houses to inquire about private rentals and parties. Renting a haunted house may also mean special restrictions or a specific time frame your guests can attend. Sign a rental agreement in advance that sets forth the terms of the rental. Most haunted houses are already pre-decorated, but you will more than likely be required to provide your own entertainment, food and beverages for your guests.
In a Field or Barn
If you live in a rural area or near a facility with a large field or barn, it may be possible to host your Halloween party in these locations. If the field or land is public property, find out from the appropriate local governmental authorities about any required permits or restrictions on using the land. You can also ask neighbors or the owners of an empty barn or field about hosting a Halloween party on their property, although you will be responsible for all of your party guests and their behavior.
At a Rented Venue
Renting a venue for a Halloween party is a perfect solution for those who live in larger cities or prefer an indoor event. Some bowling alleys (including cosmic bowling) allow rentals for private parties to host their own gatherings. You can also rent local banquet halls or even a time slot at your city's community center, depending on the community center's specific rules and pricing. Other venues to rent for the evening might include a concert hall or an entire 'laser' tag or paintball building, though these will cost significantly more in rental costs.
