Open Dreamweaver and on the 'File' menu choose the 'New' command. Dreamweaver will present you with a dialogue box that will ask for server and file setup information. You will need to choose the folder where you want to save the files you create in Dreamweaver as well as the location of the server where the files will be uploaded. The server information you need is available from your web host. Once this information is complete, Dreamweaver presents you with a template dialogue box.
Select a template option from the template dialogue box. Dreamweaver offers several catalog templates to choose from. Clicking on any of the templates will bring it up for you to examine. Look at all of them and determine which one fits your needs. If none of them is quite what you need, choose the closest and modify it. You can easily delete sections of the template or add sections of the template by using the Modify menu.
Replace the Dreamweaver template text with your own text. This will be information about your products, including product descriptions and pricing.
Add pictures of your products to your catalog by using the Insert menu. Dreamweaver allows you to set the display size of the graphic and easily create links to full-size versions.
Upload your catalog to your web host using Dreamweaver's built-in FTP (File Transfer Protocol) feature. Your web catalog will dispplay on your website just as you created it.

Java GUI Design TutorialIn Feburary 2016 17,
In Feburary 2016 17,
The Java JDK (Java Development Kit) includes the Java virtual machine, the Java compiler and a wide range of useful libraries (or 'packages,' in Java parlance) including AWT and Swing. The place to go for the latest Java is The Source for Java Developers (see link in Resources). On the right-hand column you will see Popular Downloads, click 'Java SE' to bring up a new page. Look for the JDK that comes with NetBeans (see link in Resources). Download and install.
Using NetBeans to Make Your First GUI
With NetBeans IDE and the Java SDK installed, building the first GUI is easy. NetBeans IDE will display a start page that includes links to tutorials on the NetBeans IDE and Java. This example creates a simple application to say, 'One World!' At the top left of the NetBeans IDE, click File > New Project. A New Project dialog box appears. Under Categories, click 'Java.' Under Projects, click Java Desktop Application > Next. A new screen comes up with the 'Project Name' and 'DesktopApplication1' highlighted. Change 'DesktopApplication1' to 'OneWorld!' Click 'Finish.' The dialog box will disappear. NetBeans IDE will reorganize itself into three tabbed windows--one labeled 'Projects,' a middle one showing a Design layout for a simple GUI and the third labeled 'Palette,' which shows different Containers and Controls. Under Palette > Swing Controls > Label. Grab and pull it into the middle display, in the middle part of the gray GUI space. The Label will become surrounded by some smaller drag handles (for resizing) and some thin gray-blue guidelines and in the middle, the text will read 'jLabel1.' Double click 'jLabel1,' and type 'One World!' Press the 'F6' key to run the program. You have built your first Java GUI.
Next Steps
To learn more, follow the tutorials for Java available with the NetBeans IDE. Begin with a detailed tutorial to help you deepen your knowledge and expertise in Java (see link in Resources).

How to Create a Website to Sell ThingsIn Feburary 2016 13,
In Feburary 2016 13,
Take some time a really think about your audience. Who are they and why do they want to buy your product(s). Make a list of their demographics and psychographics, and create a benefit hierarchy which will show the most important reasons they buy to the least important. Are there different segments that have slightly difference characteristics or may behave differently? How do each of these individuals get information - where do they go to learn about products like yours? Are there other outlets (competitors) for these products? If so, what is your compelling competitive differentiator (why should they buy from you)?
What Do You Want Your Market to Do?
Of course, we want the audience to buy, but the buying process may not be instantaneous. Make it easy for them to find the information they want. Engage their interests and bring them to the logical conclusion: a purchase. And don't forget that many may be accessing your site from a mobile device. Increasingly this is BIG part of e-commerce and you must maximize the customer experience for the mobile buyer.
Building the Site
Your site must have a way to display your goods and a way to process the transaction. You might want to consult or use a professional web designer. If you want to do it yourself, please think about using a service such as Shopify, which provides easy templates for website construction, secure hosting, a merchant account, and all the back-end processing. They charge a fee, but they take all the worries away.
Market the Site
Get the word out, consistently and with urgency. Your message should be where your audience goes for information, such as social media. Integrate the message about your e-commerce site with all your other marketing. Keep your site interesting and fresh with new content, such as a blog. You may not be able to exactly measure the contribution of this content, but it adds credibility, builds your brand and provides other ways that people may find your site. If someone buys, say thank you and repromote your products and competitive differentiation. If someone is interested, but doesn't buy right away, develop a program to nurture them, perhaps through email.
Metrics and Measurement
We want to do more of the things that work and less of the things that don't work, and the only things that can be improved are the things we measure. So there are a few metrics that we want to pay attention to. The number of visitors is a starting point. People can't buy unless they come to the site. How many came and how many interacted or went to multiple pages? How many didn't interact (bounced) and what's your opinion why? Next, how many registered (perhaps for a newsletter), entered the shopping cart and how many bought? The conversions from visitor to registrant, visitor to shopping cart and visitor to purchase are key to success, you want to make them go up.

How to Change the Default Password on Your iPhoneIn Feburary 2016 12,
In Feburary 2016 12,
Launch Cydia using the icon in your iPhone's main menu. Tap the 'Search' tab and search for 'mobileterminal,' then tap the result, tap 'Install' and follow the onscreen instructions to install the MobileTerminal app.
Run Terminal to bring up a standard UNIX command prompt. If you don't know how to navigate these, don't worry; the next few steps will be all you need.
Type 'su root' and tap 'Return.' You'll be prompted for a password. The default iPhone root password is 'alpine.' Once you enter this, you'll have logged into your iPhone as root -- the most powerful, highly privileged account possible.
Type 'passwd' and tap 'Return.' You'll be prompted, twice, for a new password. Enter whatever you want. When you're done, you can close the Terminal app -- your password has been changed.

How to Configure Passive FTP Mode in Internet ExplorerIn Feburary 2016 12,
In Feburary 2016 12,
Start an Internet Explorer session from the Start Menu or command line. Click on the Tools item in the menu bar, then click on 'Internet Options...' to bring up the Internet Options screen.
Select the Advanced Tab from the Internet Options screen and look under the Browsing options for the option labeled 'Use Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL modem compatibility).' Check this box and select the Apply button to make the change or the OK button to make the change and close the Internet Options screen.
Enable FTP Folder View if using Internet Explorer as an FTP client. You also may want to check this box at this time if you would like to look at FTP files as if they were normal Windows files.
Use passive mode on FTP servers if you are behind a firewall because it is usually required. Passive mode should only be disabled if you have problems connecting or need to use the PORT command instead of PASV.
Disable passive mode on FTP clients to connect to some servers.

How to Express Appreciation for Hosting a Dinner or LunchIn Feburary 2016 06,
In Feburary 2016 06,
If someone you know has invited you to attend a luncheon or dinner, you can -- and should -- say thank you for your host's kind gesture. For smaller gatherings, especially those that take place in someone's home, bring a hostess gift. Flowers, a bottle of wine or a candle are all acceptable thank you gifts. If you are attending a larger event, such as a banquet, where gifts may not be appropriate, send a follow-up note, either through the mail or via email. Doing so within a week of the event makes the best impression. Offer to host a similar event yourself. Assuming the responsibility of the role of host or hostess expresses appreciation for the details involved in creating a successful event.
