How to Attach an SQL Database to a Web PageIn Feburary 2016 24,

In Feburary 2016 24,
Determine what website functionality you wish to use the database for. Whether it be an order detail page or a product catalogue page, by determining the functionality, you know where to insert the database connection code and how to code your page to show information.
Create your database. Based on the website functionality you need, build the structure needed for your database. Refer to the 'Resources' section below for instructions on how to create a database.
Open the web page that you wish to attach a database to using your HTML editor.
Insert the database connection code in this page. The database connection code is dependent on what kind of programming code you are using for your website. Database connection codes to popular programming codes like ASP.net and PHP are listed in the 'Resources' section.
Test your database connection. Save the page that you edited and open it in your browser. If you do not see any errors posted on the page, and the information from your database is displayed, you have successfully attached a database to your web page.

How Does Chat Work?In Feburary 2016 23,

In Feburary 2016 23,
Internet chat has evolved quite a bit from its original inception, but the basic premise of chatting remains the same. Users at different computers are able to connect to each other, using either a web browser or a dedicated program to serve as a go-between for the chat participants' computers. Chatting often allows multiple users to connect at the same time, though some chat programs may limit the total number of users who can be connected at once. There are two main forms of chatting that you will find; browser-based chat rooms that don't require dedicated software to run, and those chat clients and instant messengers which are dedicated programs on their own.
Browser-Based Chat Rooms
Browser-based chat rooms come in a number of different forms. There are simple HTML chats that refresh themselves automatically in order to display messages that were posted since the previous refresh. Then you have Java or Flash-based chat rooms that update the conversation in real-time. Regardless of the type of update system that a chat room uses, the way that it functions remains basically the same. The chat room is hosted on a web server, and users connect to the server in a manner similar viewing a web page. The users don't connect directly to each other in most cases, but instead simply receive the updates from the server that show what everyone else has typed or posted in the chat. This allows users to interact with each other without opening up their computer to a direct connection with an unknown person. If an error occurs with the server that the chat room is hosted on, the room will be unavailable until the error is resolved.
Instant Messaging and Chat Clients
Instant messaging programs and dedicated chat clients work in a similar manner to chat rooms, though there is no web-based interface involved. Though these programs and chat clients may be focused on small conversations and occasional file transfers, there is still a server which acts as a go-between for the participants. Each message which is sent travels first to the server that the chat client or program is connected to, and from there it is sent to the appropriate recipient's computer. The server acts more as a routing agent than a host, with much of the functionality of the chat coming from the software installed on the users' computers. Should an error occur with the central server, users may be disconnected from the chat network or some messages may not be received.

How to Start a Local Poetry ClubIn Feburary 2016 19,

In Feburary 2016 19,
Every poetry club must have members and a meeting place. Talk to your friends, family and classmates. See what kind of interest those around you have in attending a poetry club. From there, branch out into your community for members and a location. Churches, coffee shops, libraries and bookstores are typically open to hosting poetry clubs. Schedule a meeting with the person in charge and express your interest in using her facility for your club. Check to see if there are any fees involved. Some locations allow clubs to meet for free, so survey several spots before choosing the best one for your club.
Poetry Club for Writers
An ideal poetry club for writers should include both published and unpublished poets. Members of a writing-based poetry club usually have the same goal: publication. This type of poetry club helps writers grow through the reading-and-critiquing process. Published poets can be a great asset to help new writers to reach their publishing goals. Published poets have been through the process and understand the details related to publication. They are typically comfortable with their own voice and are able to offer advice to new or unpublished poets. Set aside a specific amount of time to read and critique each other’s writings. Always stress that the club meeting is a judgment-free zone and that each member should be respectful of other members and their writing.
Poetry Club for Readers
Poetry clubs for readers provide a way to share the love of poetry. Poetry-reading groups meet to discuss the poetry they’ve read in the past and to discover new poetry. This type of club works well in a library setting, because books abound. Members often choose different books of poetry to share or a selection of poetry to read before the meetings start and then discuss the works during the meeting time. Poetry clubs can select works from classical poets like Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Walt Whitman or Longfellow or contemporary poets like Carl Sandburg, Maya Angelou or Robert Frost.
Successful Poetry Clubs
Poetry clubs can play an important role in their community. Members can reach out to the community and become involved in promoting literacy. Many poetry clubs host poetry readings during the holidays. For example, a reading of 'The Raven” by Poe presented around Halloween can draw crowds and entice new members. Reading “T’was the Night Before Christmas” -- the classic holiday poem by Clement Clarke Moore -- around Christmastime in conjunction with a writing contest encourages writing and draws publicity for a club.

How Does Internet Radio Make MoneyIn Feburary 2016 19,

In Feburary 2016 19,
While there are options available that allow an individual to create and maintain simple and free Internet radio stations there are still costs associated with maintaining and running a station, no matter how large or small.
Equipment, Internet access, hosting fees and potential royalty payments to record labels (stations playing any copyrighted music must pay royalties) can turn even a free online station into a monthly expense for the owner, so it is in her best interest to find sources of income to help pay the bills.
Ad-Based Internet Radio
Internet radio stations can sell airtime to advertisers and play their ads during programming. For novice and smaller operations, web-based ads may work better. Programs such as Google AdSense allow anyone with a website to sign up for free and place Google-programmed ads on their station's websites.
Donations
Many stations solicit donations from loyal listeners to help pay the bills. Companies such as PayPal allow users to set up a free account and add a 'PayPal donation' button to their website.
Listeners can then donate a set amount or the amount of their choice or sign up to donate automatically on a monthly basis, giving listeners the ability to support radio programming they enjoy.
Payola Practices
Payola—when a band or record label pays a radio station or DJ to play its music—is illegal, as it has been dating back to the 1950s, when such scandals rocked the commercial-radio business. But it is technically legal for a band or record label to pay a station to play a song as long as the station announces that arrangement on air before playing the song, notes that the song does not constitute regular airplay, and states that the song is sponsored airtime.
Some consider this practice, even with full disclosure, to be unethical, so a station owner should decide where she stands on this issue.

The Advantages of DB2In Feburary 2016 08,

In Feburary 2016 08,
DB2 has a more powerful Structured Query Language (SQL) dialect than Microsoft’s SQL offering. DB2 has features such as object tables, before triggers, Java method support, multiple user-defined functions and support for arrays. None of these features are supported by MS SQL. SQL allows direct access to the data via the database management interface of DB2. It also can be imbedded in the code of application programs written in other languages, such as COBOL and Java. This flexibility and feature list combine to make DB2 a powerful relational database management system.
Multiple Platform Support
IBM produces versions of DB2 that run on all available platforms, rather than just Windows-based platforms. Included in the DB2 list of supported platforms are AIX, HP-UX, Linux and Sun. This ability to run on a variety of hardware/software platforms brings a flexibility to the table that other database engines do not offer. IBM also offers DB2 as part of a pre-configured bundle along with the operating system. This combination produces better performance since the operating system is configured for DB2 database support out of the box, saving the system administrator time.
Self-Tuning Memory Management
Database tuning is part art and part science, and normally takes a significant amount of a database administrator's time. Part of this configuration job entails configuring memory for the various workloads to achieve the best performance. During the day access is typically via online applications, with random access to records across the database. At night, the workload typically changes to a batch format, with sequential processing of records being the norm. DB2 Version 9 offers a feature called Self-tuning Memory Management (STMM), which allows the database to automatically change the memory allocation when there is a change in the workload. This optimizes performance by making adjustments on the fly to the database memory and buffer pools with no requirement for human intervention..
IBM Support
A major advantage of DB2 is that it is an IBM offering. Developed many years ago at IBM’s database labs, DB2 has gained feature after feature over the years. IBM produces software updates and patches on a controlled basis after thorough testing. IBM’s high-quality software support is a factor in DB2’s popularity, along with the system stability that results from that support. IBM’s research and development dollars continue to improve the product making DB2 an ideal choice for a RDBMS.

How to Connect to WordPress Using FilezillaIn Feburary 2016 03,

In Feburary 2016 03,
Open FileZilla on your computer.
Type your Web host's hostname in the 'Host' box. This often resembles your actual Web address. For example, if your blog is at myblog.com, your FTP host may be 'myblog.com' or 'ftp.myblog.com.'
Type your Web hosting username and password in their respective boxes. Usually, but not always, these credentials are the same ones you use to log into a Web-based control panel for your website. Once you connect, the files on your Web server appear to the right.
Navigate to your home folder, which may be called 'www,' 'home' or 'public_html.'
Navigate to the folder called 'wp-content' inside the directory where you installed WordPress.
Navigate to the folder called 'plugins' to upload a new plugin. Navigate to the 'uploads' folder and, if relevant, the correct year and month to upload content such as images or PDF files.
Click and drag any file you want to upload from the left side of the screen, where it is on your computer, into the appropriate folder on the right side of the screen, which is your Web server. The files will copy to your WordPress installation, but the originals remain on your computer's hard drive.
