In Feburary 2016 29,
Locate the 12th digit in the barcode. If the check digit is not yet in place, this is the last digit from the left. If the check digit is in place, this is the second to last digit from the left.
For example, if your EAN-13 was 97 35940 56482 4, the 12th digit is the No. 2.
Starting with this 12th digit, move from right to left across the code adding every second digit to it. Using our example code of 97 35940 56482 4, this means starting with the No. 2 and adding to it the numbers 4, 5, 4, 5 and 7, giving a total of 27.
Multiply the sum obtained in Step 2 by 3. Using our example above, this means the multiplying of 27 by 3, giving a total of 81.
Locate the 11th digit in the code. Using our example code of 97 35940 56482 4, this would be the No. 8.
Starting with the 11th digit, move from right to left across the code adding every second digit to it. Using our example of 97 35940 56482 4, this means starting with the No. 8 and adding to it 6, 0, 9, 3 and 9, giving a total of 35.
Add the results from Step 3 and Step 5. In our example this means adding 81 and 35, giving a total of 116.
Round the result of Step 6 up to the nearest multiple of 10. In our example, this means rounding 116 up to 120.
Subtract the result of Step 7 from the result of Step 6. In our example, this is 120-116, giving us a difference of 4. This 4 should be the 13th number in the EAN-13, otherwise known as the check digit.

What Is UTP Cable?In Feburary 2016 24,
In Feburary 2016 24,
Alexander Graham Bell was the first person to make a UTP cable by simply twisting two wires together. The basic design has changed little since 1881, and is still a pair of single conductors wrapped around each other inside an insulated jacket. Some cables include up to four pairs of twisted cable. There's no foil wrap shielding and no braided shield screen, so this kind of cable is more susceptible to interference than a shielded twisted pair.
Electrical Interference
Electrical signals carried through any conductor can create electromagnetic fields. Two or more electromagnetic fields in close proximity can interact with each other, which usually means loss of data or signal strength. Losing data in a computer network can result in a variety of problems. Shielded twisted pair cable is an option when interference is an issue.
Shielded and Unshielded Cables
Shielded and unshielded twisted pair cables carry several designations. Each type of cable has different electrical characteristics, varies in its ability to shield a signal, and is appropriate for different environments. Typical cable designations include UTP or U/UTP, the basic two-conductor without foil or braid shield; STP or U/FTP, which includes a foil shield under the jacket; and FTP or F/UTP, which includes a braided screen for additional protection. For some special environments, there are also heavier cable configurations with more shielding.
Cable Categories
There are different categories of cable, with CAT1 through CAT5, CAT5E and CAT6 being the most common. CAT1 is telephone wire and is not suitable for LAN communication. CAT2 through CAT5 are suitable for telephone or network communication, and differ in their ability to transmit high-speed data. CAT2 can support up to 4 Mbps, and CAT3 can go to 10 Mbps. CAT5 cable should be used for any high data speeds, up to 100 Mbps. CAT3, CAT4 and CAT5 carry more wires inside the jacket, with four pairs of twisted wire. In addition to having more conductors, conductors in a CAT5 cable are twisted more tightly together than in CAT4 and CAT3, which helps to prevent unwanted interference. CAT6 wire physically separates all four pairs of twisted conductors, further reducing the chance of interference, which makes it suitable for gigabit data speeds.
CAT5 and CAT5E Cable
CAT5E cable includes a variety of engineering improvements that make it superior in all respects to CAT5 cable. CAT5E cable is less susceptible to crosstalk, or interference between conductors, is rated at 350 MHz, can support gigabit Ethernet speeds, and has a tougher PVC jacket. The tougher jacket makes CAT5E cable less likely to be damaged during installation. Except for some networks that specifically call for CAT5 cable, CAT5E is suitable for all applications.

How to Host a Giveaway on FacebookIn Feburary 2016 21,
In Feburary 2016 21,
Before you begin, confirm that your giveaway is either a sweepstakes or contest and can't be considered a lottery. Lotteries are highly regulated, both by Facebook as well as by federal law, and consist of three elements: a prize, a chance to win it and payment -- like an entry fee or required product purchase -- for that chance. A contest eliminates the second element of chance since the winner must meet an objective -- writing the best essay, for example. A sweepstakes eliminates the third element since the winner need not make any payment for the win.
Let's Get This Party Started!
Facebook requires that your giveaway be hosted through a third-party application -- which essentially means entries are collected and a winner ultimately selected and contacted off-Facebook. Recommended apps include OfferPop, Woobox and WishPond, all of which offer a variety of templates, wizards and other special features. You can, for example, require a 'like' before a fan can enter the giveaway, request custom information -- like the individual's hobby or an opinion about a product -- and then send an automated email as a follow-up. The app will automatically run the giveaway in a new tab on your Facebook page.
Sharing Is the Name of the Game
Once the giveaway is incorporated into your Facebook page, expend some effort in promoting the giveaway and driving traffic to your entry form. Spread the word on your Facebook page, for example, and invite friends to 'share' the post with their friends. Send a reminder every few days and add a new photo from time to time to create and bolster buzz. For additional exposure, you can also add your giveaway to a free, online contest directory -- like Giveaway Scoop, Sweepstakes Advantage or I Love Giveaways -- and publicize the contest off-Facebook as well.
Rules, Rules...and More Rules
Be very clear in your giveaway rules so there is no room for argument once the giveaway has been awarded. For example, if you want to require that entrants post a link to a YouTube video of themselves dressed like a chicken and singing a nursery rhyme, spell it out in the contest's guidelines. Be clear about limitations -- state that the giveaway is limited to registrants 18 and over, for example, or require that entrants be residents of the U.S. -- and be clear and reasonable about the deadline, so fans have time to complete what's required.

How to Host a Essay Writing ContestIn Feburary 2016 09,
In Feburary 2016 09,
Decide on your topic. Your entrants need to know specifically what topic they should be writing on. Topics are directly related to the organization running the contest. For example, The Ayn Rand Institute sponsors several annual contests for essays about her novels.
Budget your time. Essays take time to write, read, and evaluate; therefore, you have to make sure you leave enough time to cover those three stages. The Anthem essay contest runs yearly with a submission deadline in March and a notification of winners in July. This means those participating can have up to a year to write their essay, but the judges have three months to read and evaluate the entries. Keeping in mind this is a well-publicized contest, you may not need as much time, but it is better to have more time rather than less.
Set the rules. The rules set the expectations for your entrants. First and foremost, you want to ensure you have set minimum and maximum word counts for the submitted essay. This is also where you decide if you will take multiple submissions from entrants, what the manuscripts should look like, who can or cannot participate. Most contests will not allow anyone directly affiliated with the organization running the contest to participate. Also determine if you are going to keep all submissions or return them.
Select the judges and request their participation.
Choose your submission method. Unless you wish to get a lot of mail, it is simpler these days to have essays turned in by email. However, you must keep in mind using a solely electronic method may limit your pool of entrants. Therefore, most essay contests have both an electronic submission method and a physical mailing method available.
Consider prizes. There is no bigger draw for a contest than getting something out of it. If you are not a very large organization, you may wish to offer exposure as an incentive instead of a monetary prize. Some contests make money to offer cash prizes through requiring entry fees. Entry fees can be a good or bad thing in that there will be a number of people who do not enter because of them, though it can bring in capital for those hosting the contest.
Advertise your contest. Consider using message board related to your topic or organization for advertising. If you have a mailing list, utilize it to get the word out for your contest.
Notify your winners on time and make sure you come through with your prizes. One quick way to ruin your reputation as a contest is not to follow through on your promises.

How to Create a MySQL TableIn Feburary 2016 09,
In Feburary 2016 09,
Write the skeleton of the CREATE command. In this example, the table is named 'customers.' Replace 'customers' with the name of the table you want to create. Example:
CREATE TABLE customers (
);
Create an id column. All tables should have an id column to uniquely identify that row, since two rows can exist with identical data. Without an id column, it would be impossible to tell the two rows apart.
Define the id column as an integer. It should also be an AUTO_INCREMENT column. This means MySQL keeps track of the id numbers for you in sequential order. Example:
id INTEGER AUTO_INCREMENT,
Remember that an AUTO_INCREMENT column is also required to be a primary key and add this line. Example:
PRIMARY KEY (id)
Create a string column using the VARCHAR column type. A VARCHAR(n) will hold up to n characters but no more, so be sure to choose an n that's large enough to hold all the data you'll need, yet short enough so it won't waste space. Example:
name VARCHAR(32),
Create a real number column. A 'real' number is anything but an integer. If, for example, you want to store a customer's balance, you'll need to store cents as well as dollars, so a FLOAT column type is also necessary. Example:
balance FLOAT,
Create an integer column. Here an INTEGER is used to track the number of purchases a customer has made. Example:
purchases INTEGER,
Create a date column. This example uses a DATE column to store the date of the first purchase. Example:
customer_since DATE,
Put the column types together. The command can be on multiple lines to make it easier to read and to store in files. The MySQL command-line client also allows for commands to be entered this way. Example:
CREATE TABLE customers (
id INTEGER AUTO_INCREMENT, name VARCHAR(128),
address VARCHAR(512),
ph_number VARCHAR(20),
email VARCHAR(64), balance FLOAT, purchases INTEGER, customer_since DATE, PRIMARY KEY (id)
);

How to Get Around Install Shield ErrorsIn Feburary 2016 07,
In Feburary 2016 07,
Hey All,When installing a brand new program to your computer the program itself is not installed by the vendor generally. A third party utility issued. This third party utility is called installshield, and although it works it is not always perfect. It can cause error such as error 1001, error 6001 error 1320, the list goes on and on. Here is a quick way to fix all that.
Generally this means your temp file is full or the install shield folder is having trouble with the new installation.1: If you get an error, when installing cancel the install.
2: The first thing to check now, is the add/remove programs section of your control panel. See picture
3: Double click on add/remove programs so you can see the list of programs in this window. See picture.
4: Once you are in this window make sure that the program you are trying to install, is not in here or that there are no remnants of the program you are trying to install. Once you have verified this close the window, and back to your basic desktop.
5: Now back at your desktop, find my computer and double click it.6: This will bring you to a list of drives, double click the option for the C: Drive.
7: Once on the c:\ Drive double click the option for program files. See picture
8: you are no win program files find the folder that says 'installshield Installation Information'
9: Right click the folder and select to rename the folder, rename it to
'installshield Installation Information.old'
10: Once the file has been renamed, follow the same process above.Go to my computer, and double click, and now double click on the c drive find the folder that says WINDOWS, double click the windows folder, and go to the temp folder in the C:\Windows double click the temp folder and clear all the files in that folder.
11: in the temp folder press (control) and 'a' at the same time this will highlight all of the files, and now press Delete on the keyboard.12: say yes, when it asks you if you are sure. 13: Reboot machine, reinstall program.

How to Change Web Hosting Service ProvidersIn Feburary 2016 01,
In Feburary 2016 01,
Do your homework when deciding which host to move your website to. Moving your site to a new host is a lot of work so you don't want to have to do it too often. Choose a new web host that offers room for expansion if your business grows.
Give yourself plenty of time to make the change over to the new host. Even though it means one month of double expenses, it is a good idea to start services with your new host one month before discontinuing services with your old host. This will give you 30 days to work out any problems at the new site.
Pack up your business at your current hosting site by making copies of all of your web pages and files on CD. Arrange to have services you were using and don't need any more to be disconnected at the end of the month.
Notify your domain name registrar of your move. This is the company that you registered your ecommerce site name with. They need to know the domain name and IP address for both your old web host and your new one.
Set up your site at your new web host by uploading all of the pages and files you packed onto CD. Start any new services that you need in your new home.
Notify your customers of your new email address if it changed when you moved to the new hosting site. Set up mail forwarding with your new web host to ensure that any mail sent to your old email address will be forwarded.
