Get_headers() is a command in PHP that fetches HTTP headers. The get_header() function accesses the header.php file that describes the nature of the Web page or file. The get_headers function also retrieves website redirection information, error codes, authentication requirements and encryption information such as HTTP and HTTPS. The get_headers function must include the URL of the request in the argument. An argument to format the retrieved headers is optional.
cURL
Websites may have cURL enabled or use a socket connection. cURL in PHP supports FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, LDAP and other data transfer protocols. The Web connection details are contained within the cURL class. This eliminates the need to reference the connection details throughout the PHP code, decreasing the amount of time required to create cURL scripts. cURL scripts create cookies and save the cookies to specified directories. The cURL extension in PHP websites allows external websites to be accessed while remaining on the first website. This function is used for retrieving data like stock quotes from a third-party website or third-party payment vendor websites like PayPal and credit-card processors. cURL scripts are essential to creating online shopping carts and continuously updating data feeds. cURL scripts allow reporting on a connection status such as transfer speed, transferred data volume and the percentage of the file that has been downloaded so far.
Factors Affecting Get_File Speed
Get_file functions do not trigger authentication routines such as log in prompts or cookies. The file_get_contents() function also downloads files without exchanging information with the server from which it was retrieved, such as cookie processing. Using a get_file function instead of a cURL script is faster than a cURL script because these steps are skipped. Get_header speed depends on the volume of information it retrieves. Web pages with less information are retrieved more quickly. Web pages that hold less data are downloaded more quickly.
Factors Affecting cURL Speed
cURL speed depends on network latency, network speed and the speed of the server with which it is communicating. cURL scripts also depend upon the processing speed of the servers they access. cURL slows down when handling large XML files. Multi-processing allows multiple cURL tasks to run simultaneously, potentially speeding up the processing time of the whole Web page.

How to Set Up a Purchase Order System for a Small BusinessIn Feburary 2016 27,
In Feburary 2016 27,
Examine why you want to institute a purchase order system. You might be having problems with vendors shipping the wrong materials and supplies or not delivering them on time. You might have suppliers who won’t ship you items without pre-payment if they don’t have a written purchase document. Or you simply might want to prevent fraud or errors.
Choose Who Will Be Invovled
Decide who needs to be involved in setting up your purchase order system. Start with your accountant or bookkeeper, if you have one. Review your bank and credit card statements to see who makes the most purchases during a month. Depending on the size of your business, include management and staff members who will have to use the new system. If you won't be doing the work yourself, put one person in charge of the project and give him the authority to designate project tasks to other staff members. You might consider creating a small committee to handle the task.
Include one or two vendors or suppliers who will be asked to accept your purchase orders.
Set Policies
Spell out the circumstance under which employees can make purchases and who can make purchases.
This will limit who can use and transmit a purchase order. Consider creating a list of approved vendors who will accept your purchase orders so you can increase your ability to control costs and quality. This eliminates the problem of having to pass frequent vendor credit checks when making purchases.
Develop Your Forms
Purchase orders are the forms that become the center of your purchase order system. Create forms employees can use that allow you, a bookkeeper or accounting department to easily input purchase orders into a financial document for later reference. The form should include items such as the following:
name of your company, address and contact information
department requesting the purchase
person who approved it
item being purchased
item cost per unit
number of units ordered
total cost without tax
tax amount
total amount with tax
the vendor
purchase order number
date requested
date of delivery
Your form should allow you to run reports by vendor, department or item to quickly find out how much the company is spending in certain areas. Each document should have a purchase order number for easy reference when you contact a vendor or supplier or vice versa.
Solicit Input
Once you’ve created the first draft of your new purchase order, ask the people who must use it for their feedback. Explain why you are instituting the system and
provide examples of how accounting will use the system. Ask your vendors and suppliers what they think of your form, and if they have any additions they’d like you to make.
Communicate The New System
After you have used the recommendations and feedback you've received to create your final purchase order and procedures for using it, communicate the information to everyone who will be involved. Put the information in writing and send a copy to each staff member. Have them sign a document stating that they’ve received, read and understand the document.

How to set up a webcam (hosted and using FTP)In Feburary 2016 27,
In Feburary 2016 27,
PURCHASE A WEB CAM:I described that you could use a PnP (Plug and Play) webcam in my first article, but for this operation, you will probably want to consider a little better web cam. You can still use a PnP camera at first, but you will want to upgrade as time goes on. I would recommend the use of the $50 - $70 Logitech webcams for this operation.
INSTALL THE WEBCAM SOFTWARE:Once you have your camera, install the software that comes with it. READ the instructions for installing your webcam onto your local computer. Troubleshoot as needed for setup.
FTP DELIVERY SYSTEM OVERVIEW: In my basic webcam set up article, I discussed the use of a free hosting provider or the use of Yahoo, AOL, MSN, or SKYPE. However if you have your own webserver, there are two main ways to deliver your webcam content to your website and server:1) FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to your website and your webserver that you host with. We will discuss this option in this article. 2) Set up an in-house server that uses webcam software to stream your images. I am not going to discuss this option in this article.
DOWNLOAD WEBCAM FTP SOFTWARE:This method assumes that you know how to use an FTP program to publish your website already. There is a lot of free software out there that you can use to set up an FTP link to your hosting provider for your webcam. A few webcams come with free webcam software that you can also use. I recommened that you look into using Webcam32, (trial version, then purchase) TinCam (trial version and purchase) or ConquerCam (trial version and purchase). You can also do a Google search for other software programs available and free software available.Which ever one you decide to use, download it and install it on your computer. Set up your webcam as instructed in the directions of the software.
SET UP YOUR WEBCAM FTP ACCOUNT:Alright, so now we will set up the FTP information so that your images and video can get online! Depending on the software you downloaded, you may have a built-in web page builder or you will have to create a video wrapper on your web page. I will not explain that here, so you can look this up on Google. You will need to have a basic knowledge of html to understand how to do this. Build a test web page for this purpose on your site.
TEST THE CAMERA:Once you have set up your FTP account, you can now test the WebCam and see if it is saving data out to your FTP account and your test webpage. Congratulations if it is working correctly, if not, check your code on your HTML page, and also check the FTP information you provided to the software.
