How to Add IntegersIn Feburary 2016 27,

In Feburary 2016 27,
Understand that when numbers have no signs in front of them, they are positive. For example, if you have the problem 3 + 5 = ?, both 3 and 5 are positive. You simply add the numbers together using elementary math. For example, find 3 on a number line and count five places to the right to solve the problem: 3 + 5 = 8. Adding two positive numbers always produces a positive result.
Ignore the signs of the numbers initially when adding two negative numbers. Follow the same procedure for adding positive numbers. For example, for -3 + -5 = ?, make the problem 3 + 5 = ? and solve it. The result will be 8. Once you have a solution, add a negative sign in front of the number. So 8 becomes -8.Think about it this way: Say a friend borrowed $3 from you last week, then borrowed $5 from you today. Your friend now owes you $8.
Examine problems that have one positive number and one negative number. If the positive number is larger, subtract the numbers, and then put the positive sign in front of the answer. For example, suppose the problem were 8 + -3 = ?. You would convert the problem to 8 - 3 = ? The result would be 5. You can also use a number line, start at 8 and go three places to the left to find that 5 is the result.
Subtract the numbers and put a negative sign in front of the result if the negative number is larger. For example, consider -5 + 3 = ? You would subtract 3 from 5 to get 2, then add a negative sign for your result: -2.

Marble Run InstructionsIn Feburary 2016 13,

In Feburary 2016 13,
You'll need to locate an organization that is hosting a marble run. You can usually find a motorcycle organization in your state that hosts the event every year. Ask other motorcyclists if they know who is hosting an event and where you can purchase a book.Members of the hosting organization sell the books. Businesses that are participating in the event also have the books for sale. These books usually cost $10.00 up, depending on the organization's printing costs. The proceeds from the sale of these books goes to the organization's cause or charity.
What's In The Book?
A marble run book is filled with places you will need to visit as you go about your marble run trips. Each page will have a business name and address in it. These businesses can be anything from bars or restaurants to gas stations or motorcycle shops. It depends on the hosting organization. All of these businesses are generally within a day's trip. There are usually small maps and phone numbers to help you find unfamiliar places. The places are listed in such a way that it is possible to visit several of the businesses in a day's time, all along the same route or in close proximity to each other.
Getting the Book Filled Out
At each designated stop you will either spin a wheel or draw a marble from a bag. This will award you the color for this particular stop. The business owner or an employee will sign your page for you and enter the color you were awarded. You can get together with several friends who are also doing the marble run and plan a day of riding together to get your marble run stops completed. The object is to get as many of the pages filled out as possible before the end of the marble run event. The book will tell you what day and month the event closes.
What to Do With The Filled Out Book
The organization will host an end of run party or get together. The book will tell you when and where this event is to be held. The event usually consists of a meal, live entertainment and door prizes. You will turn in your marble run book at the beginning of this event. Each marble color you have on your pages is worth a predetermined number of points. Those in charge will tally up your colors and award you the appropriate number of points. If you have been awarded the top number of points, you will win a prize or even a monetary award. Some organizations print the colors point amounts in the book, so that you have a good idea how you are doing. Others prefer to wait until the night of the event to assign a point category to the colors. Obviously, the more stops you make on the marble run, the higher your score is likely to be.

How to Make My Own Web ServerIn Feburary 2016 12,

In Feburary 2016 12,
If you don't have a high-speed Internet connection, secure one with a local provider in your area.
Secure your own domain name. This will help people get to and from your files on the Internet. This will also give you a place to send and receive email. If you do not have a static web address (if you have cable or DSL connection, you probably will not have a static address) there are several places you can go to secure your domain. Check the resources section.
Get your router. Use a regular router, because wireless routers are not suggested for home server set-ups. Your router should have Ethernet jacks and should be capable of port forwarding in order to allow outside Internet traffic.
Set up your computer. Make sure that you have your standard computer items including a keyboard, mouse, and a 10/100 Ethernet Network Card. Make sure to have an uninterrupted power supply to keep your system safe in the event of a power outage.
To configure your web server, you should start system-config services. Make sure that httpd and mysqld are started and selected to start on boot, then save the service configuration.
Verify that your web server is working correctly by opening a browser and pointing it at http://localhost/ (which always points to the web server on your computer). You should see the test page for apache, the web server application.
Set up port forwarding as directed by your router. Make sure that all http services or port 80 traffic is sent to the IP address of your web server.

How to Troubleshoot Network Connection IssuesIn Feburary 2016 08,

In Feburary 2016 08,
Determine whether the problem has to do with the network connection. For example, are you trying to access a webpage and your browser keeps prompting you with a 'Page cannot be displayed' error? Use a major search engine to find an alternate link to your original destination. If that works, then there is most likely a problem with the website and not with the network connection.
Check your computer's physical connection to the network. This will require you to check your data jack or Ethernet cable. Verify which port your Ethernet cable is connected to. In many cases, network connection issues can be resolved by checking to see if the correct cables are being used, or if they are plugged in the right places. In addition, you should test your router to make sure that it is working properly.
Find the network connections setting within your operating system if it's not a physical connection issue. In Windows 7, right-click the 'Internet Access' icon (appears as several vertical bars) in the task bar and select 'Troubleshoot problems.' The Windows Network Diagnostics dialog appears. When prompted what type of networking problem you're experiencing, click on 'I'm trying to reach a specific website or folder on a network.' Then enter the address or path you are trying to connect to.In Mac OS X, go to 'System Preferences' and click on 'Network.' Select the built-In Ethernet option, and click on 'Configure.'
Examine your firewall to confirm that it doesn't prevent you from connecting to the network. In many cases, your settings may be too high. You can also disable any background applications that may be running and preventing you from accessing the network. In a worst-case scenario, you may have a virus other malware that prevents you from properly accessing your network.
Contact your department's or campus technical support (IT) staff if your issues still have not been resolved. There may be something else that is wrong that needs to be addressed. Hopefully they will be able to troubleshoot your network connection issue.
