Javascript Tutorial for PDFIn Feburary 2016 27,

In Feburary 2016 27,
Create your Javascript PDF variable. This variable has the functions needed to create and edit a PDF. To start your PDF creation function, use the following code:pdfdoc = new pdf$("", "Header", "Footer");
Set a font size. The font size can be set to any number. A typical document font size is 12-18. You may need to use different font sizes to come up with the best size for your PDF pages. The following code sets the font size to 18:pdfdoc.setFontSize(18);
Write some text to the PDF. You can continue to write text until the PDF file, and the PDF reader, sets page breaks for each page created. The following code adds a line of text:pdfdoc.addText('Create a PDF file in Javascript');
Save the file and display it to the reader. The following code creates a physical file and displays the document to your reader:pdfdoc.writeToFile('mypdf.pdf');

How to Edit a Live PHP Site via FTPIn Feburary 2016 25,

In Feburary 2016 25,
Open File Explorer or Internet Explorer: both programs access the built-in FTP client.
Type the site's host server FTP url into the address bar and press 'Enter.' The FTP address starts with 'FTP://' instead of 'HTTP://" like a website. ExampleSite.com might have its FTP server located at a URL like 'FTP://adminFTP.ExampleSite.com.'
Enter your client account user name and password then press 'OK' to log in to the FTP.
Locate the PHP files you want to update in the FTP browser window. The FTP browser window displays the files on the FTP server like File Explorer displays local files on your computer or home network.
Copy the PHP files you want to update to your computer by highlighting them in the browser window, pressing 'Ctrl+C,' opening a local folder Window in File Explorer and pressing 'Ctrl+V.' You can edit the copy of the file stored on your computer, but you can't edit the one stored on the FTP site.
Open the PHP files you want to edit with Notepad or a code editing program, make the changes you want to make in the code and save the updated file.
Highlight the updated versions of the files you want to update on the PHP site in the File Explorer window and press 'Ctrl+C' to copy them.
Open the FTP window, locate the folder hosting the files you want to update and press 'Ctrl+V' to upload the files to the FTP. If Windows asks, choose the option that overwrites and replaces the files. The new versions of the files will immediately display on the site when refreshing the page.

How to Change the Default Rendering on SSRSIn Feburary 2016 18,

In Feburary 2016 18,
Locate the report you will be creating a link to using the ReportServer portal in SSRS. Typically, this is found at http://servername/ReportServer. The interface will be minimal, but will display the same folders and reports as the Report Manager.
Copy the URL. Note that the URL may contain several parameters, but the part to look for is the report path, which can be found between the '?' and the first '&', if any exists. In the following example, the report path is '/Folder/Report%20Name':http://servername/ReportServer?/Folder/Report%20Name&rs:Command=Render
Create a new URL using the report path with some additional parameters to specify the rendering format. The 'rs:Format' parameter specifies the rendering format for the report. The following values are common for a default installation of SSRS: HTML4.0, MHTML, IMAGE, EXCEL, PDF and CSV. The 'rs:Command' parameter set to 'Render' instructs the report server to render the report in the specified format.For example, for a URL that always renders the report as a PDF document, use the following:http://servername/ReportServer?/Folder/Report%20Name&rs:Format=PDF&rs:Command=Render
Render a report as an Excel document this way:http://servername/ReportServer?/Folder/Report%20Name&rs:Format=EXCEL&rs:Command=Render

How to Telnet Into an HP PrinterIn Feburary 2016 16,

In Feburary 2016 16,
Launch Command Prompt on your computer by typing 'cmd' in Windows Search. If you haven't used Telnet before on a Windows 8 computer, you must install it first. To do this, open the terminal window with an admin account and type 'pkgmgr /iu:'TelnetClient' at the command prompt. Press 'Enter' and then confirm your decision as prompted.
In the text box, enter 'telnet <IP address>'. Replace the '<IP address>' with the IP of the HP printer.
Enter a user name and password for the telnet session. If this is a new setup, it is blank. You can set a user name and password to protect the machine from unauthorized telnet access. Enter 'passwd: <password>' to set a password on the telnet session after you've logged in for the first time.
Set the printer to log print jobs and errors. You can set the HP printer to store any messages to a text file on a local network computer. To set these configurations, enter the following commands:syslog-config: 1
syslog-svr: <local computer's IP address>
set-cmnty-name: <printer's SNMP password>The SNMP, or Simple Network Management Protocol, password is a separate password from the main telnet session. Replace '<local computer's IP address>' with the IP for the computer that stores the system logs.
Type 'IP <new_ip_address>' to change the IP for the HP printer. Once you change the IP address, you need to take note of the change to telnet to the printer a second time.
Close the telnet window and send a test print. This ensures that you've configured the settings properly and the IP address is found by the local network machines.

How to Install Plesk on UbuntuIn Feburary 2016 03,

In Feburary 2016 03,
Open your network configuration file in a text editor as the root user. To open the file in Gedit as root, open Gnome Terminal and enter “gksudo gedit /etc/network/interfaces” (without quotes, here and throughout) at the prompt. Ubuntu's default interface uses DHCP to assign an IP address at boot, but you must change this configuration to use a static IP address instead. Comment out the line “iface eth0 inet dhcp” by adding a “#” symbol to the beginning of the line, then add the following seven lines to the bottom of the file:iface eth0 inet static
address
network
netmask
broadcast
gateway
dns-nameservers
Substitute your server's value for each number inside brackets in the above lines, but don't include the brackets in the code you add to the file. You can get these values from your Web host or Internet service provider. Save the file and close Gedit.
Restart your network interface to apply the changes by entering “sudo ifdown eth0 && sudo ifup eth0” at the prompt.
Install PHP 5 by entering “sudo apt-get install php5” at the prompt. If you already have the latest version of PHP 5 installed or you don't plan to install the Web Presence Builder, you can skip this step. The Parallels Web Presence Builder is a custom website designer that supports drag-and-drop graphical site construction, shopping cart checkout and traffic analytics. Many hosting resellers use Presence Builder as an all-in-one solution for their customers.
Uninstall AppArmor to prevent conflicts between the two services. By removing AppArmor, you introduce a level of vulnerability to your system, so you may want to install an alternative kernel security layer such as SELinux or Grsecurity. To uninstall AppArmor, enter “sudo apt-get remove apparmor” at the prompt.
Open firewall ports for any Plesk components you want to use. Visit the Parallels site to see a list of Plesk components and their associated ports (link in Resources). At the minimum, you probably need FTP, SSH, DNS, HTTP, Auth and a database component such as MySQL or PostrgreSQL. To open a port in the default Ubuntu firewall, enter the following command at the prompt:sudo ufw allow Substitute the appropriate port number for “port number,” but don't include the brackets in the command.
Download the one-click installer from the Plesk site using the wget command. At the terminal prompt, enter the following command to launch the installer:wget -O - http://autoinstall.plesk.com/one-click-installer | shThis command downloads the Plesk installation script to your current directory and installs Plesk in Ubuntu. After about five minutes, when the installation completes, you can log in to the Plesk control panel and initialize the service.
Open a Web browser and enter “http://<your IP address>:8443” in the address bar, substituting your IP address for “
” and omitting the brackets. The Plesk control panel displays a first-time configuration page, and you're prompted to enter your name, phone number and email address and create a new password.
Purchase a Plesk license by clicking “Tools and Settings,” selecting “License Management” and choosing “Order New Key.” You can use the Plesk control panel through the trial key until your license is authenticated.
